What electronics has got to do anything with micro processor & controller architecture? Before Mc&p architecture comes DLD, Discrete mathematics.
Any engineering university will have electric & electronics department (EEE)
The IRST is Infrared imaging system that identifies & tracks the IR signature of jets & incoming. Limited to 60km.
EOTS is a electro-optical version of it that combines TV & IR for better imaging, target identification & tracking, weapons guidance. (You won't need seperate targetting pod, meant for stealthy strike).
DAS is the latest (& somewhat unproven) all direction integrated infrared tracking tech, meant for better situational awareness. Not for attack or wrapping guidance, but more of a defensive role. If future this will works MAWS & direct the DIRCM to counter IIR-guided AAM.

these days many universities offer ECE, electronics and communications.
Yea, CPUs are silicons, make sure they study soil science too.
Using Transistors in electronics as junction-diode & using them to construct logic gates are two different things.

This is a different to design, this is the end process once the design is done and tested.
This requires credentials in another field other than electronics.
In same way transistor function in EEE & using them in logic gates is different.
Like treating a pharmacist like a doctor.
