I see that Haldilal mentioned that the LCA deal was due to get clearance last week. Here's a news report to confirm that the clearance did take place for 73 Tejas Mk1As and 10 trainers in case anyone thought it might have been delayed.

A lot of it is due to economies of scale. 83 isn't a big order and seems more like IAF placing token order out of internal politics. They might order much more in the future and that would bring the prices down a fair bit, depending on how many.

I am not sure anyone ever has even considered sending them to Taiwan.

1. Top Speed
2. Max time aircraft can stay in the air.


I've heard only bad things about it.
