Incase you may not realise it, sanblvd is from India and one of the best troll I had ever come across in all my years surfing Chinese Military websites. He is good in playing mind games and is obviously well educated, I had been watching how he played with you and some other fellow forum members ever since this border incursion. Just wondering why moderators hasn't ban him.
I don't know if it is true.

But I share the same sense with you that it is very common in the internet that many people act in an over-nationalistic, over-patriotic manner that is so over done to become unreal. I clearly remember this ex Hong Kong law maker "梁国雄" during the Diayu island conflict taunted to sail to the island to confront Japan when in fact Japan was forbidding their people to land on the island. His act was intended to force Japanese coast guard to arrest them, which will then force the Chinese coast guard to "save" them, there you go, a fight between the two countries when both governments were trying to avoid a physical confrontation. Later he turned out to be a person who showed disrespect to PRC constitution and National flag during his inauguration as the law maker, now he is removed from the HK legislation.

Good thought. Unfortunately, many (if not majority) politicians and ordinary people act in such a way like a gambler. When there seems to be a good chance, they forget end game, only look at and think of the bright side and ignore all the negativities. Needless to say the many examples in the long past, just the very recent Iraqi and Afghan wars, Bush Jr. did not think of the end game either. I know US is on a different class than India, but when Modi thinks China is busy with US in the sea, he would think India (binding with US act in the east) would have a winning chance and forget about any possibility of things going downward.

In fact, Modi is thinking and acting EXCATLY like Nehru in 1962 when India gathered support from most of the world including USSR and USA, while China was at odd with both super-powers. I think Modi thinks he will be luckier than Nehru.

IMO Modi is just an idiot like the Japanese PM Abe, whom are playing the nationalist attitude game against China to distract their people from their own countries poor domestic performances.

Seriously? You are comparing me to that HK lawmaker?

Excepting the unnecessary insult I agree with your assessment.

To elaborate on the point it's important to remember that Abe and Modi both only represent a particular faction of their respective country's elite and politics. They are instigating conflict with China to distract from not necessarily their country's actual problems but also just their faction's.

They are most definitely also trying to rile up and score brownie points with the anti-China crowd in each other's countries and in the West to milk and gloss over other problematic aspects in those international relationships.

No they won't

US sees how it is, and they are NOT giving support to India whatsoever, nor are Japan, EU and Australia. So no support from West

Take a look at Russia, there is no chance in hell Russia will get on India's side, I'm sure Russia want China and India to fight each other to weaken each other, so China will be tied down and have less ambition in Siberia.

But Russia will NEVER openly support India, if they did that, that means Russia will openly piss off China who's 3 province bordering Russia far east with 110 million while Russia's entire far east with less than 6 million. Its really really not in Russia interest to have a hostile China next door. Putin is not Modi, they won't make such stupid decisions,.

India is on its own this time, if they want a fight, it be one on one.
Last time was only lip service so is this time, that is how much the support is about. But still a lip service is still a support. Nothing changed, that is my analogy and comparison.

It doesn't really help China image an bit when Western medias kept on selectively repeating India own narrative that it's intervenening on the behalf of Bhutan request for more than an month already, unless China PR campaign can somehow change the narrative in which she is currently doing by stating the facts on her own website. An silly suggestion I heard today and I really hope China and the PLA don't really take this approach.

The suggestion is that in the coming months near the end of the year, the winter solace will bring big snowstorms to the area, with India lacking logistic support, combine with heavy snowfall and severe coldness weather in the area, Mother Nature would help force back the Indian personal without PLA boots on the ground. This way there would be no war and avoid any losses of face on both side.
That is a good suggestion and maybe what China is doing, though it doesn't quite fulfill the feeling of some trigger happy dude.

The thing is, maybe they think they can easily win? i know guys at Indians forums are just normal peasants, but all of them are using the terms towards China like paper dragon.
Just read the Indian defence forum, there is so much bullshit circling around...
There are always some hot-head in every country, even majority at extreme time like WWII. We have seen Chinese hot-head. One of my Pakistani friend is a hot-head because he is born in Kashmir.

There are more hot-head people in defence forum than on the street because people interested in military subject are more into fight or interested. In other words, not necessarily representative of the mass.

The goverment is more rational, but are we sure about that? There is so much propaganda and confidence in the Indian news and society...
Maybe they have believed that they could win.
We will never know. On the one hand, Nehru was a perfect example of that over-confidence and truly but wrongfully believed in something.

But before Modi make himself another Nehru, everything is possible, we simply don't know what is in his mind right now. There is a chance he is rational regardless what he say. Think about NK and US, so many grand-standings for decades. For that possibility of rationality in Modi, it worth the wait. It is better to wait than shoot (even wining) that will create a mini cold war between China and India for decades to come which is exactly what China's other rivalry is hoping and pushing.

That is correct Missile attack is the Achilles heel of Indian army . They don't have any missile defense system in place And it won't for decades to come
So all China need to do is hitting it from the far. Artillery is Chinese specialty from ancient time. They used it extensively in Imjin war. Notice the recent exercise is artillery firing both rocket and gun
They have large stockpile of rocket and the variety is mind boggling 200km. 100km etc.
Most large Chinese air base is set back more than 300km from the order so it is outside range of Brahmos. some is within like Nyingchi

As to China saving face The other shoe hasn't drop yet

I am not an artillery expert but I checked the terrain. The ridge of the border is at 4000 meters, the road in the Chinese side is at 3000 meters. The valley is of mild and open slope, pretty good for rocket artillery. Siliguri is just 100km away and on a very low plain. Beyond Siliguri China must be really careful not having the shell fell on Bangladesh. :D (I am kidding about the last sentence).
