Hong-Kong Protests

Many people treat this as "Civil Disobedience". That's why some people still think it is possible to make peace with the moderates. The central government has already labeled this as "revolution" and considered this as an attempt to overthrow the Hong Kong government and an insurrection to seek independent.

Those so called HK democrats have crossed the red line. There is no returning to normal after this. The National People’s Congress would announce soon a major reform over election for both Chief Executive and legislators. And this is just the beginning.

From my perspective, the red line is crossed when these moderates failed to denounce violence and nurture resentment and hatred toward mainland Chinese. When they tried to brainwash youngsters about HK identity and demonized their Chinese identity and root, I just don't see there would be any peaceful way to end this crisis.

I totally agree the HK police exercised restraint in minimizing the use of live munitions even as their own lives were threatened. Kudos to HKPF in this aspect. Compared to the Burmese police and military, the HKPF is much more professional in this aspect.

However, there were cases where arrested protesters were tortured (one of them was the famous video of two policemen engaging in sexual abuse of a protester in hospital). Some detainees were also sent to Shenzhen and were tortured by the Mainland security officials (think about the "spy"named Simon).

I am not saying police forces in the States and FBI are innocent (in fact, police in the U.S. are notorious for brutality and public executions of minorities), but there is a general norm today against excessive use of force by police with the exception of legitimate self-defense. Police are representatives of the states' monopoly of violence, so any forms of police brutality could be interpreted as domestic abuse of power against citizens. It is like a man without a gun fighting against a man with not just a gun, but authority given by those higher up to ensure order. It is never a fair fight to begin with. Under such existing imbalance of power, it is even more imperative to keep police authorities in check, be it in the States or China, so citizens would not be randomly subjected to abuse and mistreatment.

There was one case of three policemen involved in misconduct. Those policemen have been apprehended and jailed. As for some detainees were sent to Shenzhen, it is clearly a fake news. We have refuted many of these fake news here. If you can't provide any evidence to back up your claim, then you are just spreading fake news in this forum.

HKPF has already been much more lenient than other major Western countries police force. Those rioters have been rioting for over a year. Innocent bystanders were harassed, beaten, and killed by these rioters just because they don't agree with these rioters or just because they speak mandarin. You come here to condemn the HKPF, the HK government and the Chinese government and spread lies but refused to acknowledge what these rioters and so called moderates have done.

I'd say, "No!" They get four while China only gets one. Typical trying to save face when the West sees saving face as something foreign that they don't do.

There are a few mainland Chinese that got arrested for trump up charges of espionage. Any exchanges should include them.

No deal. The Meng situation is a win-win for China. If she is release with charges dropped, it means it was a political arrest by the US with Canadian collusion to force an arrest. If she is trial and/or jailed, it is more reason to end the monopoly of US/Dollar/banking system.

Convictions of NSL with a long sentence on Wong and Chow will be a good warning to the HK youth to not cause trouble again. Subversion and purposely trolling the govt has real consequences.

No way prisoners in HK charged under NSL will be included. It's a matter of principle and they're crossing the line here. Meng for the two Michael's might or might not be considered, through some delicate process.

A new round of media war on HK is expected due to the reform of the electoral process. Hence a media barrage from the Chinese side.

Another round of propaganda for HK is coming. But for the next few months, XJ and genocide are still their main attack points. Outpouring of support never materialized for Hong Kong. Most Westerners are just indifference regarding HK.

Congrats to the UK. They may be putting money where their mouth is and giving welfare to the "refugees".
Note this though, "case by case basis" is pretty much a weasel word to deny as they please.
They also don't mention that many of the so-called "refugees" are actually not eligible to BNO at all since they were born after 1997. This means they would not be eligible for benefits.

This almost is self defeating for the UK politicians.
First, it shows that most of the "refugees" are not self-supporting as they said they would be.
Second, it reinforces those negative stereotypes of refugees looking for handouts.
