I'm afraid it is not that simple. These aren't just spoil kids. These are kids with their own sets of ideologies and seem willing to die for them.

Willing to DIE for! Come on, you make it sound like they are revolutionary heros that endure hardship on the par with Che, ETC! Lol

Here's a video for you to see these kids at the airport "sit in" demanding airport authority to turn on the air conditioning like bunch of spoilt brats, instead of die-hard revolutionary Lol. You can't make it up!

A flight attendant on Friday accused Cathay Pacific of summarily firing her over Facebook posts linked to Hong Kong's political crisis, adding to concerns about a China-driven witch-hunt to root out pro-democracy supporters at major firms.

The Hong Kong-based airline has been accused of bowing to political and commercial pressure from Beijing by sacking employees in recent weeks for their public support for the massive anti-government movement roiling Hong Kong.

Earlier this month, China's aviation authority ordered Cathay Pacific to stop pro-democracy supporters among its 27,000 staff from working on flights to -- or over -- China, after a general strike drew out some of its staff.

On Friday, Rebecca Sy, who worked for the airline's regional arm Cathay Dragon and is also a union leader, said she was pulled off a rota to fly to China and summarily dismissed the next day on August 21.

Management showed her Facebook posts discussing the political situation, Sy said, but added she was not formally given a reason for her sacking.

China versus the entire liberal world (including Japan and India). Do you really think China has a chance of winning?

Bow wow wow!

Liberal world gang up! You have heard of the saying "The capitalist wil sell you the rope for which you to use to hang him with"!

Right now, the China market is so profitable, the liberal world rather knife each other in the back than "ganged up" on China!

Really, you must read more!

This is really awesome. They are totally getting people to hate them. Blocking subway turn-slides to cause pedestrians commuting inconveniences and then yelling "Fuck you" at people who angrily push through is totally the very last thing you want to do to gain support. They are making themselves as pathetic and annoying as possible. I love it.

Actually, its worse than that, if you can understand cantonese, SHE, yes it's a she. She actually said "Fxxk yxxr mxxxxr". Which as a Chinese, we all know that's the worse verbal insult you can throw at someone. And that from a "educated female" sewer mouth! What sort of world we live in!

Well, I supposed China want to save the Canadian blushes, after what happened to the British staffer! Lol

For those who missed it, and I'll never get tired of repeating it.

The Brits thought they would get on their high horse, and embarrass the Chinese regarding one of their staffer gone missing and nothing was heard from him.

It transpire he went accross the border for a bit of, how should I put it? "fun", and would like to keep it from his family (which is why he hasn't got in touch)! and later when he was found in the house of "fun", he requested the authority to NOT inform his family!

And this is how the Brits ended with eggs on their face! Lol

But will the HK people ever share the concerns for the country? Growing seperatism and localist/nativist movements are some of the most efficient tools used by adversaries to divide Greater China. The Green Party of Taiwan is an example. The taiwanese are considering themselves Taiwanese primarily rather than Chinese. They have tapped into nativist ideology and cultural differences, however minute, for ideological and political gains. Tsai Ing Wen is a product of this. She considers herself Taiwanese first and foremost then maybe Chinese. The same is the case for Hong Kongers.
Hong Kongers are more likely to cheer and support if and when foreign forces (hypothetically) arrive into China. They are either pure traitorous or selfish or both. National Interests may never find a place in their calculus. I'd blame the educational system as well as Anglical infiltration of the local cantonese culture that fosters elitism and seperatism.

The answer to division is unity, not further alienation.

You'd be surprised how quickly people change their minds under the right circumstances.

Most of the radical rioters are young adults. Everyone does stupid things when young. If June 4th students can become productive citizens, so can they. After they pay their debt to society according to the law, of course.

Yeah, i saw this report, and the MSM is trying to spin it as unfair, and China is using its commercial weight, etc, etc. Lol

As if other western countries wouldn't be doing the same. Also, don't forget these people will be flying in and out of China's territory. On national security ground alone, China could prevent these people from entering into their air space!

In any profession, we have a duty not to bring our profession into disrepute. And inciting or encouraging unlawful behaviour of others falls into that category!

In my profession, I would have been sacked a long time ago! So can't see why she is crying about, and worse why the MSM trying to make a thing of this.

"The answer I got was 'I can't tell you why'. This is what I cannot accept," a tearful Sy told reporters, without giving details about the content of the Facebook posts.

"It's not just about my termination. We don't want to lose Cathay, a local Hong Kong airline and its message about the core values of Hong Kong."

"All my colleagues are terrified because of this 'white terror'," she added, using a widely deployed term for Chinese pressure on Hong Kong.

The Chinese flight ban caused Cathay Pacific shares to tumble and sent fears rippling through Hong Kong's wider business community.

The airline has already fired four members of staff associated with the protests -- including two pilots.

In a statement on Friday, Cathay Pacific's corporate affairs boss, James Tong, did not address Sy's dismissal.

But he said: "Recent weeks have been most challenging for all of our people."

"We are a leading international airline... and therefore we are required to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where we operate."

Hong Kong is renowned for its business-friendly environment, rule of law and freedom of expression.

But most major Hong Kong companies have deep business ties with China, the world's second-largest economy.

Also on Friday, hundreds of accountants, most in suits and wearing masks, held a rally in support of the anti-government protests as unexpected sectors of Hong Kong society hit the streets.

Some of us "are afraid of being sacked by the company", an accountant from a top firm said, giving her name only as Kim.

"It feels that if we don't walk out today, there won't be a chance for us to walk out in the future."

Cathay Pacific became of the focus of China's vituperative social media after some airline staff joined a pro-democracy strike, including the union representing the carrier's flight attendants.

On August 16, Cathay CEO Rupert Hogg suddenly resigned as the hashtag #boycottcathaypacificairline racked up tens of millions of views.
