You know, I think they should just let the protesters stay there. Let them do their thing, and if they keep there and inconvenience people, then the public will turn on them one at a time.

Let's see how long they can keep going for.

The police, by all account if not their own reputation, won't let the public to go "DIY" on the insurgents because it'd most likely get really bloody quickly as citizens don't have ROE, like the police.

Though this morning the police finally show those boys and girls some taste of "American standard". Views on this definitely polarized, as the social scene in HK by now already, but I can tell you it's elation on the pro-establishment side.

My Facebook is filled with lopsided anti-government propaganda it's sickening! I guess people, myself included, can only see what we want to see. The Yellow ribbons will jump at every opportunity to discredit the police/government, seemingly oblivious to the fact that those guys were the lawbreakers in the first place.

I think someone is trying very hard to recreate a 89. Hong Kong, when and how will this end?

A good point of view from the Singaporean PM. I hope this have some persuasion power on the moderate protester, as there were many comparison between HK and Singapore since, last year by HK citizen. Even if you fail universal suffrage, why not move forward and get out of status quo. In my opinion, no one is telling you to stop working toward universal suffrage if you passed. China never really feel that they 'won' if you let the new policy pass. The people should not feel defeated. In China's eye, that is just a stage in working toward universal suffrage. Like I said before. 得寸进尺 "obtained an inch, aim for a feet"

The moderates are effectively "dead" as the occupied zones are in fact controlled by elements of several extremist (even fascist) groups subservient to radical parties. Student Union has now reduced to a figurehead, since they don't have control of even one of the zones, thus they've no power to fulfil whatever promise in exchange of their demand. Worse, they simply sway their demands every hour of the day, if not daily.

In essence, there's nobody of any reliability the government can negotiate to even if they've such an intention. It's hard to tell if the movement really falling apart or not, but it's obvious that the government (both HK and Beijing) hold their ground firmly.

Don't know if this has been covered here or not, but Beijing has already set the tone of this insurgency as yet another Colored Revolution, drawn their conclusion and move accordingly. It does get the insurgents nervous because they repeatedly claimed it's "not revolution", but who'd believe them when they blissfully adopted the "Umbrella Revolution" name given by CNN, make yellow as their signature colour? Today's newspaper claimed the Central Government has greenlighted the deployment of PLA, but only as a "last resort" AND when things like looting are happening on the streets.

That said, those insurgents can really push their luck, and see for themselves if Beijing really mean it.

I simply block anyone that has "Yellow Ribbon", unfriend anyone who associate themselves with those fascists. Perhaps you should do the same?

And as to how this might end. Like I said Central Government, according to the news article today, has greenlighted the deployment of PLA to quell this insurgency, alas still keeping this as a last resort AND only do so when arson and looting broke out on the streets. With the student activists now effectively reduced to talking heads (they don't have 100% control of any occupied zones, thus they can't fulfil whatever promise in exchange of their demands), the streets are now owned by fascist thugs.

As to when...more educated guess will be after the APEC Summit in Beijing next month.

Anyone familiar with 80's and 90's HK cinema should know that HK police beating people up is not news. Or rather, it was not. Perhaps standards changed after '97?

There is also video of this hippy spurting some kind of liquid of the police. some people say it was urine. I'm sure we'll know more details later. if it was the police may still not be legally justified, but are morally justified to give that clown an asskicking.

Joshua Wong and Benny Taiou are US State Departments agents? Prove it if you really think that is true.

Yes they are US agents and China is well aware of if:
Why is the US so keen on ‘Color Revolutions’?
(People's Daily Online) 10:11, October 11, 2014
According to media reports, Louisa Greve, a director of the National Endowment for Democracy of the US (NED), was already meeting with the key people from "Occupy Central" several months ago, to talk about the movement. Louisa Greve is the vice president of NED who is responsible for its Asia, Middle East and North Africa programs. For many years, her name has frequently appeared on reports about "Tibetan independence", "eastern Turkistan", "democracy movement" and other forces destabilizing Chinese affairs and interfering with the Chinese government. She also hosted or participated in conferences about the "Arab spring" and the "Color Revolutions" of other regions.

Even American Mike Billington admit that US is behind illegal protests in China:
Mike Billington, the editor of the Asia desk for the Executive Intelligence Review, said in an interview with Press TV on Saturday that the ongoing demonstrations in Hong Kong were part of "a classic case of the so-called color revolution."

"This is an operation that is run directly by the regime change institutions in London, in Washington and in New York," he added.

Thats why US wants "Ocupy Central" protesters to block roads in Hong Kong and block economic activity in Hong Kong.

provides ample evidence that people like Benny Tai are US agents. I mention just one:

this is evidence that he is on US goverment's payroll and this mean that he works for US.

US is trying to destabilize China not only through Hong Kong but also through Xinjiang with US even call "East Turkistan". This is from US agency NED:
