With the situation right now, for the USA to send missile and weapons to the Taiwan and have them blown up on route is something that will be more and more likely. Killing this official isn’t going to improve Taiwans odds at all, it simply makes things worse for Taiwan and expecting Taiwan to rely on the USA isn’t going to cut it given Chinas ability to put up a blockade and given that North Korea and Russia are foaming at the mouth for a chance to strike the USA when there backs a turned. Congrats USA, you once again put the chance of making money ahead of common sense. The Taiwanese know that the USA will not protect them thanks to their repeated screw ups in Afghanistan and Ukraine so the chances of Taiwan throwing their citizens to die to the last Taiwanese isn’t as likely as before. They should be careful because if the USA goes too far, there is a prospect where Taiwan might remove the current leader and then expel all US operatives on the island. Especially if the blockade pushes Taiwan to the point where any relations with the USA becomes a lost cause

US MIC would suffer big losses if TW develops their own missiles. Gotta keep buying them at inflated costs.
What is the point, where will they get the resources to build missiles in the event that China puts up a blockade to stop all resources that could make the missile from making it to Taiwan. Taiwan isn’t Ukraine and China isn’t Russia, economic and blockades and no fly zones are all on the cards not to mention Other powers in the region would be more then happy to take pot shots at the US military in the event that the USA focuses on China given how much these powers hate the USA

This FT report has admitted the chance of a "new status quo" a la Diaoyu Islands after PLA's exercise and operation around Taiwan in the wake of Pelosi's visit. It interviewed extensively to get opinions from the US establishment sources, analysts and think tankers. The assessments are largely to the point. Keep in mind, FT has become an outlet for the US political insiders. It first reported Pelosi's plan to visit Taiwan last month.

"Many Taiwanese feel that not intervening would be America’s second betrayal. When foreign minister Joseph Wu waved goodbye on Wednesday as Pelosi’s plane taxied off into the sunset, the scene evoked memories of the last US military commander’s departure in April 1979 after Washington dropped Taipei for Beijing."

Very strange, they don't realize that they are dead-man walking if the battle is not won quickly or if the US gets involved kineticly.

Chinese military ignores US attempts to establish contacts over Taiwan

The US military command has tried to make several contacts with Chinese counterparts amid the rising tensions around Taiwan, but all efforts were eventually futile, according to media sources.

According to the Politico news outlet, July 7 was the last time there was any contact between the US and Chinese military.

I still hope we can convince the Taiwanese people it's in their own interest to have a peaceful reunification. It's been hard due to US/JP/DPP brainwashing but Pelosi's trip made it easier in my opinion. Not valuing your personal safety and using the entire country as a prop for a PR stunt doesn't exactly create reassurance about "US assistance." If anything, American recklessness may actively endanger your own life in Taiwan. If not reunification through a public referendum, then perhaps it may be done bloodlessly by someone within the ROC military.

China should convince the ROC military brass that it cannot win the war and that it would be better for them to capture Tsai Ing-wen similar to the "Xi'an incident" with Chang Kai-Shek. Ideally, it would coincide with a PLA mock invasion exercise, where Taiwan's eyes and ears are focused outwards. Upon securing her, issue a nationwide broadcast about Taiwan's surrender to the PLA.

Then again, perhaps that's what Taiwan has been afraid of and prepared for this. It would explain why Taiwan's military has become so pathetic if its military leadership has been replaced by DPP fanatics and not people with actual competence.
Yeah, no, I don’t think the us will let them seek peaceful reunification, that’s not their modus operandi

US Navy, with all the macho talks but ran so freaking far away & as fast as possible: USS Ronald Reagan movement up till AUG5

USS Ronald Reagan Activy.png

U.S. Navy "Reagan" aircraft carrier continues to deploy in the waters off Japan's Honshu. From August 4th to 5th, the U.S. Navy "Reagan" aircraft carrier strike group continued to operate in the waters near the main island of Japan. The activity area on August 5th left the home port of Yokosuka. It's less than a day's flight. Although the strike group has been deployed at sea for 3 months and is approaching the end and limit of this deployment, according to the new order of the Pentagon on August 4, it is likely to remain deployed at sea in the near future.

What the fvck do you expect?

Your higher ups are responsible for pushing China into the dead-end corner.

Nu nu, you don't get it. Only the CCP are pissed off. The Chinese people are not pissed off at all, except for the ones paid by the CCP. The Chinese people are waiting for the right time to overthrow their government so they can be ruled by Tsai In Wen. Don't believe all the angry voices on the internet and weibo - they are just bots!
