One interesting thing to watch for is if Biden and Xi have their phone call. If they do then the chance of a Pelosi visit would be very low as that would have been a prerequisite.

Curiously Whitehouse has been saying the call is suppose to happen today while China hasn't said anything. If there's no call today then the crisis is still on.

According to CNN, Xi and Biden will be having a phone call on Thursday morning. No exact time given, however.

Right now, it is early morning in Washington D.C.

I bet Biden is still feeling grumpy and sleepy right now lol.

Either that, or it's a way to get votes in midterm.
Nancy isn't going to lose her congressional seat in California, the district she's representing is super solid blue (Democrat) and she has no chance in hell to attract hard core conservatives to vote for her -- votes she doesn't need nor she's seeking. And this latest provocation from Pelosi is just a way to preempt the Repubs that Democrats can be trusted with National Security and their party is just as tough (crazy, looney) if not tougher on China than Republicans or the Republican party. Traditionally, ever since the debacle that was Vietnam War (that was started by both parties but exacerbated by Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson) the party has been seen, perceived by American voters as weak on defense and couldn't be trusted on National Security Issues. Which is why during then Clinton's candidacy he was relentlessly attacked for his draft deferments during the Vietnam War. Reasons why when he became President he retained then Gen. Colin Powell into his orbit to try and endear himself to Powell (didn't work) and to curtail Powell's suspected desire to run for the Presidency in 1996. Plus, Clinton made sure that whenever he's around with his service chiefs that he appeared to listen attentively to them and their advice, almost too deferential in certain ways, especially to then Joints-Chied Hugh Shelton -- a southerner like Clinton, but Shelton was from North Carolina while Clinton was from Arkansas. Most importantly which is also one of the reasons why Hillary had to shill and voted for the Iraq War resolution, Why Biden enthusiasticaly supported and voted for the war despite the overwhelming opposition from their own Democratic party base/activists/voters. Why John Kerry got swiftboated (attacked his service in Vietnam and his later anti-Vietnam war activities) which is also why Barack Obama couldn't close Guantanamo Bay despite his rhetoric during the campaign, why the continued bombing and hyper use of drones in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the world. The Democrats believe that if they can take away one of the key pillars of strength away from the Republicans they would have no problem winning elections. But this analysis may have changed in light of their recent forays into critical-race theory, bazillion gender theory, BLM, illegal migration etc.. Anyway, I digress.

The point am trying to convey here is that what Pelosi is doing have National implementation for domestic purposes, meaning, trying to enhance the Democratic party's national security bonafides for the upcoming national election of 2024. She already knows and have come to accept that her party's chances of success in the upcoming midterm election is slim to none. Yet, she remains the party leader, and elder of congress and what she's trying to do or accomplish is for the next election cycle. She is of the mind that never again would the Democratic Party be accused of weakness against any and all perceived enemies of America. A perceived weakness that was adroitly exploited by the Republicans that allowed the election of Nixon, and most especially Reagan.

But, what these folks don't realize their perceived enemy, in this case China do get a vote in their domestic political games wether they like it or not. And China's red line and core principle one of which is Taiwan isn't something the Chinese is going to allow to be used as political hay for these American political animals. Just like in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and now with Ukraine these politicians couldn't really be bothered learning and accepting geopolitical realities of the world and the limit of American power. They have drunk the kool-aid that American primacy and power reign Supreme and the only thing that can stop their advance is themselves which therefore negates and diminishes their enemies/rivals into their calculus. They have been culled with MacArthur's famous maxim of "There's no substitute for Victory" a feat that MacArthur failed to realize in the Korean War, got fired, and ultimately as the man himself said, just faded away into American immortality.

Pelosi is looking for political legacy, she is likely won’t be speaker of the house after the mid-term, and she is like what 82, 83 years old?
What is she famously for? One ask. Anti-China through out most of her political life. Why?
Couple years after 89 Tiananmen square, a delegation went to China for a visit, Pelosi took off unannounced with a small group went to Tiananmen Square and unfurled a banner support ’democracy’, she got kind roughed up by plain cloth police. After that she hates CPC government for spoiling her little stunt. No one gonna remember what law she passed, what speeches she has given, but people gonna remember when she torn up Trump’s speech for state of union, or remember the time she ‘stood up’ to China. Otherwise, all she’s remembered is for passing information to her husband for insider stock trading. It’s a political shit show she put on, and US media and republican couldn’t be happier to cheering her on.
A little side note, a formal CNN editor was on the same trip with her. China couldn’t really do much to Pelosi for her little stunt, so CNN editor was arrested since he was at square with her at the same time, released a little later of course. He has been holding a grudge against Pelosi ever since. He just wrote a editorial bashing Pelosi for being selfishness and generally a attention seeking twat.
