US moving its forces out of ME is time for China to move in, thus the recent Wang Yi visit, increase co-operations with oil-rich states, deal with Iran. These are not coincidents.
@Chish Its a signal to Israel especially Netanyahu and those forces will be concentrated in Asia. Nato will handle Russia while the US will face China that is the planned. Now that strategy is having mixed result as Germany and France is reluctant and vigorously opposed any war in Ukraine. So the US need to divide its scarce resources even more, she can't fight a two front war and need her ally to fight for her. Now the question aside from Japan what country is stupid enough to fight a war against its national interest?

The NATO countries don't have a chance in hell of winning against Russia in a conventional fight.

They only have one advantage. That is in number of aircraft. But if they go inside Russia instead of the other way around then they'll have to face Russia's integrated air defense network and will likely fair really poorly. In terms of the land based army there is no comparison to be honest. Russia has a lot more armor and they have upgraded their older tanks. Germany, for example, has most of its tanks in mothballs and sold the rest all over Europe. To expect all those disparate NATO armies to fight well together against the Russian army is sheer fantasy. Plus with China having a de facto alliance with Russia they can't expect to invade from the Pacific unchallenged while Russian troops are busy on the West. If for whatever reason the Russians started losing big they would send in the tactical nukes and stop that quickly.

So John Kerry announced climate talks with China without setting any date. Then I was watching John Oliver last night and he was talking about how Biden hasn't signed a bill he said he was going to sign a month ago reversing Trump's refugee policy. Why is John Kerry announcing climate talks with China that are suppose to take place within a week when they don't even have a date? What do both have in common? They both have to do with Biden being very aware the Republicans are ready to pounce on him. Biden has to make moves against China because Republicans are watching but that risks China acting against US interests. He's sending John Kerry, an elder statesman, which China supposedly sees as a sign of respect, to counter any message of a perceived snub Biden might be signaling with his anti-China show for the Republicans. No need for a song and dance routine for Republicans regarding refugees. He can just kick the can down the road because refugees can't respond against US interests like China can. If climate talks are happening, it'll be interesting if Kerry is the one that goes to China.

I asked Anita Dunn, one of President Biden’s senior advisers, to reflect on the three giant proposals: Covid relief, infrastructure and the coming “family” plan. What vision binds them together? What is this thing, Bidenomics? Interestingly, she mentioned China.

This could be the Chinese century, with their dynamism and our decay. The unexpected combination of raw capitalism, authoritarianism and state direction of the economy could make China the dominant model around the globe. President Biden, Dunn said, believes that democracy needs to remind the world that it, too, can solve big problems. Democracy needs to stand up and show that we are still the future.

Sometimes you take a risk to shoot forward. The Chinese are convinced they own the future. It’s worth taking this shot to prove them wrong.

@weig2000 Its always a Faith based argument, if that argument hit a brick wall and reality set in then it become a morality issue. You can't win with these kind of people, that's why the Chinese didn't bother to respond, Its a waste of their time and there is a lot of work to be done.

I'm more interested in the following quotes.

“The model of the past 40 years has been to rely on the private sector to carry the load, but that sector is not best suited to deliver certain public goods like work force training and infrastructure investment,” she told me. “These are places where there is market failure, which creates a role for government.”

This is a rebuke on 40 year-old Reaganism ad Reaganomics where governance of social and public policy has been outsourced to the private sector, effectively serving vested interest at the expense of the public good. This is an admission the model has failed to deliver on providing benefit for the public, while enriching elite, lobbyist, and other powerful influential interest group.

This is failure of their governance model that they want to export worldwide just because they have more influential special interest group that can navigate through their governance model. While they are free to screw the american public, it does not serve the general public anywhere else. puff.

Even now, the decay continues as segments of the military are being outsourced to private mercenaries.

The fear of big government is deeply ingrained into the American psyche and it won't change overnight even if experts and intellectuals recognize the issue. The founding mythology of America was breaking away from a country whose government was both unjust and aloof to the needs of local citizens.

I would compare it to the unification/reunification of China and as it was foundational to the first "Chinese" Dynasty and every other major dynasty afterward which happens to be the exact opposite of America's.

America has always functioned as an oligarchy of robber barons wanting to reap all the profits and benefits of the state but leaving the actual costs to the people; socialism for the rich as they say, socialism of the costs to the poor.

faith based arguments, typical of judeochrisitan cultures rely on humans taking leave of their ability to reason and think critically.
