China will continue making concessions and even absorbed some humiliation or "begging" until they think they are more powerfull than US

You're stringing together all these totally different stuffs (concessions <-> humiliation <-> begging) with incoherence and huge leap of logic to make your simpleton argument (that the US is more powerful so China has to beg and when China "thinks" it's more powerful it won't beg?).

ROFLMAO. Enuff. You don't deserve any more response from me on this.

@hashtagpls ,

Do you think somebody from the Democratic party or from the Conservative wing of the Republican party advises China to do the list? It's not a Chinese way of doing things especially on diplomacy.
It didnt used to be.

But news flash, it aint 2016, and the table has turned, China is stronger than it was 4 years ago.

To be honest, they probably always wanted to do this, but was not strong enough to leverage these measures effectively.

China turns its attentions to the Middle East

Many leaders see it as more reliable than America

Once it got the coronavirus under control at home, China went on a diplomatic offensive. Its aid was gratefully received in the Middle East. Egypt, the Gulf states, Iran and Iraq all received shipments. “China has sent medical supplies and their best experts…whereas America has not provided us with a single vial,” said Jafaar Allawi, Iraq’s health minister at the time. (WTF you occupied Iraq and didn't send medical help during COVID?)

As America withdraws, China’s influence is growing. Just look at Iraq. Today China is its biggest trading partner and, according to a former electricity minister, “our primary option as a strategic partner in the long run.” The feeling is shared across much of the region.

Access to energy is China’s primary motivation, but its relationship with the Middle East goes beyond that. In return for oil China is building factories, ports and railways. It has helped Saudi Arabia with its nuclear programme. Huawei, a Chinese telecoms giant, does a large share of its 5G-networks business in the Middle East.

America views China as an economic and strategic competitor. So it has told Middle Eastern countries not to get too close. But many Arab leaders see China as a more reliable partner than America, which has been known to ask uncomfortable questions about human rights and, anyway, seems fed up with the region.

To be sure, a lot of Arab states still rely on America for arms and protection. China shows little interest in playing regional policeman. But its engagement is increasingly strategic. Take its draft co-operation agreement with Iran, under which the two would share intelligence and carry out joint research and weapons development. They already train together.

It is a tricky balancing act for China, which has sold drones to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Iran’s enemies. It is friendly with Israel, where Chinese state enterprises have leased ports. China has also built ports on the Indian Ocean, ostensibly for refuelling and resupply, that could be put to military use.

According to surveys of people in the region, China is a more popular global power than America or Russia. Its influence in the Middle East will only grow in 2021.
China is simply a more mature player that seems to not chase short term gains and react on impulses, which is characteristic of American foreign policy.

China needs to be forceful in confronting human rights abuses in the United States. A reasonable place to start is banning the export of PPE to Tacoma police department, and setting up warehouses for the free distribution of PPE to BLM and antifa pro-democracy protesters.

Of course the US would never allows this, but it should be up to the government to decline.

Yeah, China is stronger than it was four years ago but all in all still only number 2 and a significantly weaker one than the US. I have not been impressed with China during four years of Trump. It was a one sided ordeal 95% of the time with one striking with punches and China in a very defensive and reactionary position.

Agreed. The trade war and the phase 1 trade deal were absolute disasters. It took a pandemic and the entire world spitting on China despite giving other countries excessive help to wake the Chinese up to the reality of international politics and most importantly, the dog-eat-dog culture of the West.

That's because you only read the headline and not analyzed the strategic moves such as RCEP and CAI.

One's all bark and goes around cussing everyone else out and shooting his own foot, the other don't give a shit and methodically plot its own rise.

While China is weaker than the US, it is still multitudes stronger than #3 and #4 put together.

If you restrict the AO to East Asia, China is largely parity with the US and in some domains far stronger.

Without giving too much away, I actually work in policy, on the banks of the Potomac, currently into my second decade as a commissioned officer.
