First, that the engines came intact and sealed doesn't mean that all the tubing around them couldn't be updated. Secondly, even if it is the same, the condition after 10-20 years of use will depend heavily on how it is cared for. If neglected due to lack of funds like the Kuznetzov, I think the insides of many ships will resemble that of the Russian carrier.

Nope. It came with boilers and steam turbines. Only pipes and cables were ripped out. And the boilers were made in SPB, not Ukraine.
By the story of the Chinese who bought the ship it was not striped off , but simply they haven't got the crew with knowledge about the steam trubines/ boilers.

That is quite rare and expensive skill these days, and for a 70k tons Slavish made capital ship it is definitively unique.

You greatly underestimate the problem with these boilers.

It is not the external piping, the wall or the stovepipe that makes it unreliable, but the internal boiler tubing.

The quality of the tubes are rubbish, so the exhaust corrode them .

It the case of big power plants there is enough clearance to repair them, but even in that big and spacey boilers the welders many case has to work upside down hanged by ropes attached they ankle, due to the space restrictions.

In the case of the type 001/kuz there is not enough space in the boiler to do this.
All that can be done is to plug the badly leaking pipes, but that degrading the capacity of the boilers, and making the combustion and airflow unpredictable .
But even this expecting that there is enough space to climb into the main steam/water distributor tube.

The Ukrainan steel is very famous about its rubbish quality, at the begining of 2000 there was an issue in a plant when a guy had the bright idea to buy cheap transformer steel from ukraine.

After the power test of the transformer it took few weeks of angle grinding to mine out the shorts from the core....

They wasn't so good to apply uniformly the insulation paint onto the core laminate.

There was no other western/eastern European supplier with similar issues.

I thought, the destroyers Hangzhou and Fuzhou have the same power plant (or say better: half of the same power plant) and they are in Chinese service since nearly twenty years. There is enough knowledge about this steam turbines/boilers.
