My only issue is people are identifying these strains via greek alphabets EXCEPT for the original strain, which they have no problem referring to as the "Wuhan strain". Intentionally or not, the only strain now still associated with location is the one first identified in China.

Fatality rate is one thing, but long haul damage from infection is another. The long haul damage is bad enough that it can prevent a person from working. Consequently, that can harm the economy. I wonder how effective the vaccines are against such a phenomenon.
Vaccinated individuals have lower risk of long haul symptoms compares to unvaccinated. Usually long haul symptoms is the result of hyperactive or overreacting immune system that tries to kill the virus and inadvertent damages healthy organs too. Vaccines help acclimate the immune system so it can be more targeted in it's response instead of attacking everything.
Tis a shame... all those republican souls to be lost all because of trump-tard vaccine hesitancy.
Translation: COVID will end when COVID-19 becomes flu-like fatality rate and COVID-19 has less transmissibilty than the flu (r0 1-1.5)....achievable when mass vaccination (preferably with boosters) occurs.
In reality, the gov't can force everyone to get mRNA boosters and then declare the COVID-19 has flu-like fatality because it controls the numerator and denominator data. It's going to be like Trump/DeSantis data manipulation, but atleast you manipulate AFTER everyone gets vaccinated, not before like Trump/DeSantis did.
