Aerosolized CanSino vaccine are being offered in Xuzhou, Jiangsu as booster to inactivated vaccines.

CanSino has partnered Jiangsu CDC multiple times in the past. Whether this will lead to national rollout remains to be seen. Currently there is no Phase III data on the aerosolized version of CanSino.

Walvax's Phase I data is finally published in a peer-reviewed journal. The data is good, but not amazing. Roughly on par with Clover or BNT-Pfizer.

People are overestimating the importance of mRNA vaccines. The most important vaccine data to watch for China's COVID strategy is the Phase III data for Sinopharm's second generation broad spectrum protein vaccine.

Those scientists/experts who wrote the news article were being very irresponsible in making the kind of misleading statement as above.

If let's say 100% of the pool of people were fully vaccinated, you're going to find 100% of those infected to be fully vaccinated and 0% of them unvaccinated since none of them were unvaccinated, to begin with.

Using the famous Attack Rate formula with 95% percent of the infected being found to be vaccinated, and assuming 99% of that population pool of people in the city were vaccinated, the vaccine efficacy in preventing infection actually comes out to 81%! (very respectable for the Omicron variant.)

Only approved for use in UAE at the moment
They seem fairly enthusiastic about it, I think part of it is economic as well.
It is the only 2nd gen vaccine available right now.
Pfizer and Moderna seemingly have an empty pipeline (recommending 4th shots of the same thing)
UAE factories have production rights, so they will be able to export as soon as approvals are secured elsewhere

It's a "broad spectrum" vaccine. It's an evolution from the 1st gen vaccine thus called 2nd gen.
