They're still not printing money and giving to couples with children. Neoliberal retarded policy is having an effect. Until it changes you will have few years of wasted growth potential.

China is barely collecting any tax revenue this year, at 0.3% growth in government revenue despite 5% increase in spending. I've never heard of a supposedly neoliberal austerity focused government spending like this before.

Reserve ammunition. They will have 5% growth and trade surplus is $1.1T despite plummeting exports to the US (- 30%) this year.

When the tariffs from EU happen and/or other roadblocks get thrown up in the future then you can go with the full socialist infusion.

You don't fire all your bolts at once. Especially currently when you are exporting more than ever despite an ongoing trade war designed to cripple your exports and at the same time you are still recovering from a massive RE bubble -- which consequently was created by lose monetary policy after the 2008 financial crisis.

Yep. Timing is key.

No 'out-of-pocket expenses' for childbirth in China from 2026

HONG KONG, Dec 15 (Reuters) - China will cover all out-of-pocket expenses related to childbirth next year, said the country's national healthcare security administration, as authorities try to incentivise more young couples to have children.
By 2026, China will aim to offer nationwide full reimbursement for all policy-covered medical expenses related to childbirth, including prenatal checkups, the administration said.

Are you saying they should adopt Biden's economic policy on childcare?

Not a bad idea by the way, but the core issue is the cost of services, rather than subsidization of those services.

Having a kid is the biggest "leverage"/"debt" one can take on other than taking out a mortgage. One cannot not consume once they have the kid. (See David Fishman's conversation with coffee barista in Linfen)

Good step.

Other things to do: increase kids car safety seats standards with consumer subsidies that gradually roll off over 3 years; broaden K-12 free education to more areas. Etc etc
