I actually disagree with the gaming restrictions. First the limiting of gaming to only Friday-Sunday at 8-9pm is just not practical. There isn't any reason why only that specific time frame is allowed and others are not.

This will also impact the Esports industry in China which I believe is a growing industry and can compete with traditional sports in the near future (as seen by several Esports entering the Asian Games in 2022). For example League of Legends, China has a robust league with a good youth development system. I believe kids aspiring to go into professional Esports is not any different than kids wanting to be professional athletes, actors/actresses or musicians. These are all entertainment industry professions and are viable career paths.

I agree kids getting addicted to games is a problem. But I believe that is the job of parents to ensure their kids stay on top of school instead of having to set government policies.
The it's the job of the parents canard is utter nonsense. When you know that most parents around the world are too damn busy working their assess off trying to provide for their family which means ensuring that their kids get to the best schools and get secondary education to ensure their kids future is better than their respective situation. And this situation applies to just about 95% of the world’s families no exception.

Do you honestly think that two working parents with probably multiple jobs have enough time and energy left on them to keep monitoring their kids sneaky ways in reigning their gaming habits?

The only people or parents who can legit police their kids gaming habits are the one's who are top tier wealthy people or upper middle income earners and families with enough wealth that one can afford to be a stay at home parent in order to be with the kids full time.

Gaming addiction is pervasive and prevalent and most acute to families of lower income brackets just like any and every acute issues that affects every society around the world such as ubiquitous access to pornographic sites, materials in countries with little to nothing sexual education resulting in rampant unwanted teenage pregnancies; children born out of wedlock, unfortunate scenarios that play out which inevitably create future problems for the society writ large -- see ASEAN countries like the Philippines, Thailand, etc.-- when the government basically surrenders to the so called "realities of life" and basically tells it's citizens, sorry, you're on you're own. But we will still tax your assess to the death and expect your kids to become model citizens of the country even though their government is literally doing next to nothing to help them achieve that goal. It's no wonder that most people see their governments more of an impediment to their future rather than a partner; they see their governments in adversial manner whose sole existence is to placate and assist those people at the top and with power while f...ng little guys and gals that comprise the majority of most countries in the world. So any little help a responsible government could do to help assist the parents parent their kids is a heck of a good thing.

The parents don't have time to keep on top of the kid's gaming habits because the parents are both working 996.

Plus we should try to discourage children to be professional athletes, actors/actresses or musicians, unless they are a very high aptitude level.
There aren't enough jobs and where there are jobs, the vast majority are badly paid. It's only a tiny minority that reap large salaries.
I disagree about discouraging children to be professional athletes etc. this will just make kids in China become idols of Western stars instead. I don't really care about actors or musicians but I really respect athletes. The best athletes really improve the soft power of a nation. Just like how the best athletes have fans around the world, the same is true in ESports. I know personally there are many fans in the West of professional ESports players and teams from China b/c they are the best.

The operative word is professional athletes.

Only a handful of people will end up as a professional athletes.
The vast vast majority of people will be amateurs or hobbyists.

Having large numbers of amateur actors or musicians or sportspeople is generally a good thing.
But having large number of video game players is definitely a bad thing for society

Interesting view on the 6 different waves of innovation / entrepreneurs in China for past 40 years since the 80s.

First waves are the generals like Huawei's Ren Zhengfei and Gree's chairwoman Dong Mingzhu.
Second waves are the masterminds from Haier, Fosun etc
Third waves are those from Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu etc..

This creepy South Korean culture of plastic surgery addicted trans-looking feminine boys that might be confused with a 12 year old girl is one of the most sickening things to come out of postmodernism.

Glad Chinese people have the biggest balls in Asia, more like the biggest balls in the world actually since they are the only ones doing this.

This culture of womenly guys with 20 kg of make-up has come from South Korea no? Good that they are banning this. Blegh.
The k-pop and korean TV series will be deprived of a revenue stream. The next korean industry to contain would be the shipbuilding industry.
