A good rule to spotting BS is to weigh the action/reaction against the words.
Fact 1) the P8 did not change course or cut its mission short.
That fact alone will give you a good idea of the real seriousness of the incident.
If the PLANAF pilot actually pulled any one of those manoeuvres as depicted in those GIFs, the P8 crew would have scrubbed the mission then and there to get away from the guy.
The fact that they did abosulted nothing is a good indication of just how dangerous or threaterning the PLANAF pilot's actions were in the eyes of the American aircrew. The rest is just political and media spin.
"OFF TOPIC"
You're putting your own little spin on here wolfie, sorry, but you have NO idea of the mindset of the P-8 crew, I would imagine they were very angry at the wanton disregard for international norms and their personal safety..... American aircrew are not cut from the same cloth as ordinary men. That they were "onto a big one" is also obvious from the overreaction of the Flanker. As I said above, when you are intercepted, you maintain your course, speed, and heading, unless there is some imminent threat, they took a firm stand to hold their line, and to maintain contact with their target, sending a little message of their own. If we were afraid, we wouldn't be there in the first place, I mean really, and they are professionals, they reported the stupidity, because they were "incensed",,,,, and I find it amateurish to accuse the USN of lying, when you weren't there.
Something you are obviously very naïve about are the consequences an American aircrew faces for misreporting an inflight interception and deliberately misrepresenting the actions of the adversary aircraft, that is "verboten", duty and honor are values that the American military, and the American people hold dear, even in these crazy days.... Lying and Obfuscation are the principle means that some governments and military employ to deceive, and misrepresent the actions of those far more principled and honorable than themselves..... If a pilot, co-pilot, navigator, or flight engineer lied, they would be fired, if that lie resulted in an international incident, they would do time in Leavenworth, the military doesn't mess around with liars or miscreants when there is so much at stake.... end off topic.
