90% of my American university experience could have been replaced with powerpoint slides... now in this age when we have immersive videos and simulations ( learn by doing, training, etc) I think China can provide a free universal education baseline available to everyone at no costs. It costs next to nothing to host these online digital courses and make them available to all... one copy or a billion copies of a video course costs virtually the same

There is no reason education through online videos in the era of 5G should ever cost any Chinese a single penny
Pretty much. You dont need 4 years of compsci to build javascript websites. Same is true for most of the other technical fields, jobs can be done by smart 18 year olds (or 15 year olds), but need 4 years of "education" anyway.

Germany is the example to look to imo.

Of course, lets assume that China ends up w/ a surplus of smart ppo and not enough high powered research slots for them? Then increase the supply of basic research positions for them to work in. Otherwise they will turn to gaming, political debate, trading stocks or other hard but ultimately useless activity.

DNA is basically digital code. The fact that all known life on earth uses the same database structure of DNA means we all originated from the same tree of life. DNA is roughly the size of a CDROM, like 700MB in size. There are endless permutations of possible DNA combinations but its not truly infinite... for example humans and apes share a high percentage of dna and differ but not that much actually... likewise on eartht there are about a handful of people that look like you right now...

Nvidia is working on AI that can scan a lot of faces and create a brand new face out of nowhere never before seen, they call it deepfake celebrities...

So companies like 23andme are now selling their entire dna database of millions of humans online to buyers.

Okay we can train an AI that can coorelation a outer physical physique to a dnA and vise versa meaning that its possible to sample a DNA and predict how this person looks, or work backwwards, and get the 3D image of a person and recreate this DNA...

What this means, is that ultimately the AI can be trained to find the needle in the haystack, the one single existential supremum DNA combination in all the possible (scanning all seemingly infinite humans that could ever possibly exists rather than be limited to 8 billion on earth etc) dna "combination space" of possible permutations/combinations to "find" (prune/search) the best ideal human, the best man the best woman and then bring him or her to life, instantiated and embodeied at long last in the flesh...

Isn't that how Next Media got busted, since those faces don't have pupils?

China’s central bank warns the country will lose its edge over the US because of birth controls

According to UN forecasts, China's population will shrink by 32 million between 2019 and 2050 whilst the US should add 50 million to its own population.

If present trends continue, China can expect to have proportionately fewer people of working age and more seniors than the US in the next 30 years.

The Central Bank's numbers are in line with the government's. On 26 February, Deputy Minister for Human Resources and Social Security

@gadgetcool5 bro no disrespected intended, but it was debated a lot in this forum about the PROS and CONS of having a large population, In my mind the right number for China is around 800 million, as the population ages its still productive due to industrialization and the use of robotics. China is looking forward to the fourth industrialized revolution with investment and resources (human resources with education in STEM) being pour in. So the future looks bright and this problem can be solve by tech.

What I'm afraid of is what kind of job unskilled workers will do, all those services sector job can easily replace by AI and Robotics. Even in Agriculture is being trialed by unmanned farm tractors and inputs with less man hours needed to operate them. I hope the west had a plan to solve this problem or we will have a turbulent future ahead. Or they can adopt a socialist agenda and subsidies people not to work...LOL

Yes and the debate was never settled. In my mind China should maintain its position as the world's most populous country as it has occupied throughout the centuries. China's population has long been its strength and a source of resilience, and it is the reason why China today can be an independent power separate from the US whereas countries like Japan and Korea are weaklings which cannot be independent by themselves. On a per capita basis, Japan and South Korea are actually richer than China by a lot. It's due to their lower population that they are weak.

Actually, it is population that enables technology and not vice versa. Today's technology requires scale to develop. For example, companies like Google and Amazon take advantage of the data they get from being so large and having a large customer base to provide a better service. They also take advantage of the fact that they have so many customers and therefore have high revenues. This revenue is then ploughed back into investment and R&D. With larger scale they are also better able to negotiate prices and take advantage of lower costs due to economies of scale. With this cycle of advantages they take a commanding lead over competitors and prevent smaller competitors from having a chance to catch up. Further, AI requires data to develop. The more people you have whose behavior is feeding into AI, the better your data is. 1 billion is better than 500 million and 2 billion is better than 1 billion. A country like Japan can build the best AI programs in the world but they won't be successful if the market is limited only to a country of 120 million people like Japan.

The US will seek to build an anti-China alliance composing of itself (330 million), the Five Eyes (130 million), the EU (550 million), Japan (120 million), and India (1,400 million), by population size, economic size, technological advancement, and military spending, the anti-China alliance dwarfs China by all metrics. And let's be honest, to some extent they will be successful. Of this grouping, only the EU is hesitant and even the EU will impose sanctions on China. Even the EU will listen to the US when it comes to key decisions like exporting EUV equipment or Huawei. Even the EU will send ships to 'patrol' the South China Sea. So you cannot trust the EU to stay neutral. China needs every advantage it can get.

As far as the "job of unskilled workers", this is not a true problem. It is actually a good problem, since robotics means that this work does not have to be done. Who wants to do this kind of job? No one. The West will move to various forms of UBI and a shorter workweek. This will improve people's quality of life. An all-around win-win. If you have good demographics and people working 20-30 hours a week, that is ideal. If you have a 4-2-1 situation with 1 person supporting 4 people and working like a dog, that's not good.

The PBOC is right here. China cannot take on all those countries with a heavy burden old age population, plummeting labor force and shrinking young population. Basically I am happy that at least someone in China recognizes this problem.

Unskilled workers comprise the vast majority of people; given the pareto principle (that 20% of a given cohort are productive and do the actual work compared to the 80%), there's inevitably going to be many, many more mediocre individuals who just get by.
And there's nothing wrong with that.
Most people just want to get by, eat nice food, have fun, enjoy life and watch their kids grow up and look after family.
China, by virtue of its gargantuan size is always going to terrify white anglo supremacists; if it comes down to it, it's ideal to have an excess of Chinese men to staff the PLA in a defensive war.
