Well, I just don’t know what to believe anymore. I am now hearing unsubstantiated rumors that there is a “package” deal in the works for the FAA from the Russians. It is as follows:

15+ MiG-29 (rumor that they are used Russian Fulcrum “C”. some have jokingly suggested that they might be the 16 MiG-29MT rejected by Algeria

30 Plus Yak-131 (single seat variant of the Yak-130). From what I have heard these are a sticky point since assemble and technology transfer is requested.

The Republic was willing to invest 1.5 billion in the JAS-39 deal with Brazil, before it was shut down by outside interests. However, as I mentioned before I will believe all this when I see the aircraft on the ground (with all the spare parts and equipment).

Well this is starting to really bother me. I don’t know why the Government and the Military are playing these silly games, which eventually leads to no aircraft being purchased and the nation sinks farther and farther behind in its modernization. If something is not done soon we will lose the institutional knowledge of utilizing fast jets.

The latest (yes I know I just posted 20min ago) from infodefensa (see link below) is that Colombia is interested in acquiring MiG-29 and that Peru is interested in expanding its existing fleet of Mig-29 or even upgrading to the MiG-35.

As I mentioned in a previous post this is why Argentina uses the TAM at only 30 ton. Can you imagine what would happen if a Leopard II of M-1 was used?

Good pictures showing how small the TAM is

well done for Argentina, a people who do not learn from History will be always conned.

In my opinion the MiG was the best option, it is almost embargo free.

Russia has embargoes, you have embargoes by the same nations, So Russia at this moment will not embargo any spare parts, the engine is made in Russia too.

You get commonality with Peru`s maintenance needs, which is good, in case Peru helps Argentina.

What version i guess if new they are SMT, if used Cs.

Russia has not clarified which version but a i saw a Russian video that has a Peruvian official wants to buy Mig-35

If you get lucky you might get the MiG-35 a fighter much much superior to the Eurofighter typhoon and inline with the F-18E

IRST system in a Peruvian MIG-29
This system seeks the heat of enemy planes allowing it to engage and fire at a distance of 65 km. Without the enemy knowing that it has been identified since this system works passively without emitting any signal.
All current Russian fighters bring factory-integrated IRSTs, in the SU-30 of Venezuela the IRST's range is 90 km.

The Peruvian government finally definitively rejected the Chinese offer of MBT-3000 tanks and now the only candidate is the Russian tank T-90S to replace the T-55 of the Peruvian Army.
