guys, do you know why r/china_irl is so critical and pessimistic of China? going on that sub makes me feel like I'm reading Gordon Chang everyday, but then again, they are the only fully Chinese subreddit. Should I trust what they say, given they might be much more aware of what is going on the country?

Also, what does the term 反贼 mean? I'm really confused; does it mean someone who is liberal and opposed to the CCP?
It’s reddit, it’s mostly Americans liberals and Chinese who goes there tends to be liberals unhappy about things are in China.
Reddit is also a circlejerk website by default, do not expect any sort of balanced discussion/analysis over there outside maybe...r/geopolitics.
There are tons of over the top nationalistic forums...in Chinese.
反贼 is the archaic, mildly derogatory term for rebels. Now adays it’s most used humorously to refer to those who heavily oppose the Communist party.

Also, no you cannot trust it as an accurate reflection of public sentiment in China, reddit is a Foreign circle-jerk website first and foremost and naturally breeds a spiralling, self-enforcing narrative.

Anyone know of a good Chinese infrastructure/railway development forum? Skyscrapercity is dead these days, and Gaoluomi only focuses on skyscrapers basically and barely anything on railroads or expressway development in China, which I'm more keen to follow.

Genuine question: back in February, when it looked like China had utterly failed coronavirus containment (perception at the time), shut down economically, while the rest of the world was doing fine, was there a real possibility Xi would've reigned by the end of this year? Because, at that time, it felt like China, relative to the rest of the world, had been hurt significantly, and as a result, hurt Xi's support nationwide and within the Party. Nowadays, it seems support for Xi and the Party is stronger than ever, due to their competent economic and coronavirus management, especially relative to the rest of the world. But I get the sense the Party, and Xi especially were at there weakest back in February and I knew many people back in China were actively cursing him and the Party for their perceived initial mishandling (back in February). Would Xi have been forced out by the end of this year? Or at the very least, not been allowed to seek a third term?

I think the Chinese government is actively discouraging skyscraper development as wasteful. If not the Chinese government, then the Chinese infrastructure banks, who needs to get a return from their loans. Skyscrapers are not proving to be the best ways to get that.

Hi cbl21,

This pandemic is a crucial test of President Xi leadership, He past it with flying colors. He will be judge by history and the Chinese people as one of the greatest leader of modern day China, Third , from MAO, DENG and now XI, thats my opinion.

Could someone help me with my problem?

I have already logged-in but there is this strip that
states "Please Log in or Register to view URLs content!"

I click on "Log in" but instead of getting the "URLs content"
another strip appears which states "You are already logged in., etc".

What do I have to do to see the URLs content?

TIA.
