That 1999 parade set the standard for goose stepping; having bayonets certainly helped and the camera work was far better. At least the last formation had the similar style with the Type-81 rifles.

The goose stepping before the flag raising ceremony was awesome. I really like the step sounds in the quiet of the morning, with howitzers in the distance. The soldier who gets to throw the flag has one of the best jobs a soldier could hope for.

Also, hats off to the ladies in red and white :nana:

i think the infantry squads would have looked better if they had 81s rather than 95s and else.
the vehicle squads and air squads definitely impressed me.

more like a parade of russian make weapon system,my opinion is despite massive defense modernization PLA is stil 20~30 year behind.
this also shown PLA technological dependency on russian arm industries.
the only weapon system that got my attention was the DH-10 cruise missile.

Not all true, China did depend heavily on Russia for Airforce right? But hope with the coming of j-10, future jets like j-14 and such would make China more independent. But I think ground force was less depended on the Russians, even all the small arm family is no wonder the Russian style like qbz 95 and t-99 and such were designed by China as well mostly... China is prolly more than 20 years behind the US in term of airforce lol but the ground force was not as much behind the US at all in many areas.. Can't really say about navy since China has no carrier and has never really engaged in any big modern naval battle before haha. I remmeber my professor at UW-madison once told me if everything goes smoothly, China would catch up to the USA overall in about 60 to 100 years lol.... I be dead by then haha

I agree with you guys the camera angles and switching to the next shot was horrible. I hopefully when the DVD comes out they edit the shots better or add a multi angle feature to the DVD.

And not having the majority of troops goose stepping with fixed bayeonts foward it's just not the same.

This is why I've supported the Type-03 over the Type-95. You just can't get that bayeonts forward look and feel with a bullpup.

Did you guys also notice this has to be the first time in a long time since troops like the cadets were all wearing sidearms and the other troops were wearing their tactical vest.

I also noticed those that carried guns did not extend their guns outward like previous marches. I think that definitely took the hard core edge off.
