It would seem the Japanese and Australians have more respect for Chinese athletes and their achievements than Hong Kong roaches..

According to two media academics in Hong Kong, quite a number of Japanese were stunned by Su's breakthrough into Men's 100m finals, and have expressed pride that an Asian made it through, achieving 100m in under 10sec; a feat the Japanese never thought possible for Asians.

Likewise Australian commentary have praised the Chinese record breaking (4x200 Women's relay swim, where Aussies were favorites).

But for post-90s HKer, they're celebrating everytime China loses. Just some observations.

Guys, off topic but what would be good username and profile pic to piss off the anti china crowd?

I recently found out someone from hk been using china virus as username to post on tennis forum. And he got away with it for long time. I set up an account with hk cockroaches as user name and was soon asked to change the name. I complained about that guy and was told he didn't want to change the name so mods changed it to winnie the pooh and the pic was still a virus. Apparently they thought this is OK.

I want to set up a new account. Wats the best name to use. I think cockroach exterminator but not sure if it's gonna be allowed..

Sounds like every day western world. Just full of Sinophobia. Just read the comments too and yup, nothing new. I love one of the top comments calling anyone who is against his "pro-HK" or "pro-Tibet" and "pro Uyghurs" a CCP bot. They hate us Chinese for not being self-loafing cockroaches.
Basically most aussie are still Anglos and they want to maintain US led world order. Anything they see as a threat to their American and white established hegemony especially from Chinese they will want to bring down.

Nice post. Many politics in this thread but this one, to me, feels very apt.

Its quite amusing to see China's achievements in Olympics gets glossed over and even suppressed through accusations of "top down system", "Communist training camps" etc.

It goes against the spirit of Olympics, sportsmanship and also is a disservice to the Olympians who let their sweat, blood and tears - braving injuries and psychological trauma.

I've long regarded Olympics as an event that highlights national wealth and resource allocation of nations. It hasn't changed much. And China's rise therefore isn't surprising. I'm very certain that Olympics isn't the celebration of the best of the best nations or people have to offer. It's just a celebration of those who have the resources and the few who persevere in the absence of it.The USSR and US dominated the games for long. I'm betting that given atleast half the resources to the impoverished countries of Latin America, Africa, Southeast - South Asia etc the Olympics medal tally would look very different.

I rather you don't give them the time of day. It's all meaningless at the end as the western world is about to implode on itself and HK can't even do anything since China clamped down on it. I mean just look at the cockroaches hiding right now in HK too scared to do anything besides insults online. We've already won.
