Yes, type 054A are using updated YJ-83, and these missiles are not out-dated.

Using YJ-12 to imply that YJ-83 is out-dated is like when you deploy 130mm gun, and this shall rendered 75mm gun outdated, which is logically False.
Well 75 mm guns really stopped being used shortly after WW2

I know 76 mm was intended.

A clear look at the aft AESA panels on a late batch 054A.

I read a interesting report on the Type 054A in a Dutch marine publication. A Type 054A frigate visited Rottedam in january of 2015 and there was a brief tour of the ship. And the reporter was not impressed.

The report reads (via Google Translate):

The room seen on the frigate was the dining quarters. A sober space with metal benches without backrests. A series of small plastic fans were mounted on the walls. This is usually not necessary with properly functioning air conditioning. The hallways were also empty, plain and bare except for some framed glowing posters. It did not look modern and advanced, although at the time this was a completely new series of frigates.

There were cables visible under the ceilings, but no network cabinets, switch cabinets, computers, WiFi transmitters, etc. as seen on Dutch ships. There were also no fire extinguishers visible. Possibly all the previous work was done, but that chance does not seem great.

All in all, the frigate did not make an advanced nor robust impression.

You need to know that the ship in question was the 571 Yuncheng commissioned in december of 2009 and was one the first ships of the second batch. Things might have changed in the years after or they have removed some of the equipment that they consider to be sensitive.

Dunno, this seems very good to me:
The hallways were also empty, plain and bare except for some framed glowing posters.

Also an important note:
All in all, from what I saw, the frigate did not make an advanced nor robust impression.

Taking into consideration the small box of laser emission detector at the base of the installation, this should be an EO countermeasures system.
