It seems that BYD Tang battery in terms of charging isn't the most efficient according to the test done by this YouTuber based in Norway. He seems to be making more "Chinese" jokes compared to the last time I watched his videos as if it's done on purpose so he's not barraged with a tag of paid CCP shill as he has been accused in the past. I don't know if am being unnecessary insensitive about this or my observation is unfounded but I can see the difference.

2000 - 4.72 million vs 17k
2010 - 4.83 million vs 540k
2015 - 4.42 million vs 750k
2021 - 3.82 million vs 2.01 million
first 6 months of 2022 - 1.73 million vs 1.33 million
Now, keep in mind this is anything produced in Japan vs China. So, Chinese total does include Tesla or other foreign JV produced in China and sold abroad. Similarly, Toyota also produces a lot of its cars outside of Japan. The trend is undeniable. China will soon become the largest car exporter in the world.

I suspect the charging efficiency can be improved by tweaking the software.

Japan was the one that gave us the analog high-definition TV right at the verge of digital revolution.

Nio will built battery swap stations in the U.S. as early as November this year and will probably enter the U.S. EV market in 2025. Nio plans to provide services in 25 countries and regions by 2025.

This was just as impressive. 100 m long cruise ship carrying 1300 people over 100 km. 7.5 MWh battery pack. 100 km may not sound like a lot, but as energy density keeps going up, maybe we can keep seeing electric drive efficiency improvement and higher density battery packs to reach several hundred km range in 5 years. Maybe you can add some solar panels on top to help with range. This is not a replacement for larger cargo ships. That will probably have to be with green hydrogen and green ammonia. But for shorter ranged ships, this could be sufficient. For cruise ships, you can have them dock every night and recharge. Same with regional cargo ships that follow fixed routes with charging infrastructure.
The range is actually much larger.

  据了解,这艘新能源货船预计本月底开始试运行,从华能长兴电厂到苏州太仓装运电煤,航行里程200公里。该船设计载重量1600吨,配备两套磷酸铁锂电池(320块电池组成)为船舶动力,船舶航速不小于10公里/小时,续航力不小于270公里。
  “当前,油价持续上涨,运输成本增加,货运收入利润大幅缩水,这无疑给零排放、无污染、低成本运输的新能源货船提供机遇、创造条件。”湖州港口船业有限公司高级工程师陶辉说,这艘新能源货船一次充满电需6小时、3400度,可满载跑300公里、空载跑500公里,往返电费需3000元左右,与同吨位传统运输货船相比,可减少四分之三的运输成本,投运后预计该船每年可减少燃油消耗约7万升,减少二氧化碳排放约184吨。

Full load range is 300km. Empty range is 500km. Charging time 6 hours.
