I'm rooting for the Keelung - it seems to be chasing down the Type 052D mercilessly ;)

@ACuriousPLAFan Unfortunately it seems like siegecrossbow is right - people seemed to be just used to it. Until the moment missiles start landing people are content to just sit it out, instead of incurring the exit cost of having to sell their property and finding a place to emigrate to, find jobs etc. But actually it's surprising, because Taiwan is one of the few high income economies where there is a heavy net outflow of people, despite the democracy, freedom blah blah blah so perhaps some people are more far-sighted. Also, the more pro-mainland folks seem to think they won't be targetted, which is probably right, but they are discounting collateral damage

Looks like lithuanian delegations have arrived via commercial plane and looks like tourists lol

And they purposely made it "really clear" they are unofficial and more like actual tourists on potential business prospect. LOMFL

Where's all the black-suit with red ties? Where's the welcoming delegation? Where's the red carpet? Where's all the gung-ho?

This is just a school-children factory tour day trip in the eyes of real adults of the world.

What a LOMFL joke. GO HOME YOU KIDDOS!

Just about every foreign officials who visited Taiwan are paid one way or the other by the current Taiwan government. Ask @5unrise see if he knows about the background of the current foreign minister of Taiwan. There are some pretty interesting things about him and his family. He's a diehard pro-independent, may even be more so than the governor.

The Wanwanese...seeing the PLA surround them and conduct live fire exercises, thought they would also do some military drills.

They fired artillery and flares... but caused a bush fire in the mountains. These Wanwanese folks never cease to amuse.

Fire breaks out on outer island during Taiwanese artillery drill

Witnesses believe tracer fire or flares started fire in Dongyin Township

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A fire broke out on an outer island during an artillery exercise held by the Taiwanese military on Friday evening (Aug. 5).

On the second day of massive live-fire drills being held by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) around Taiwan, Taiwan's Army also conducted live-fire exercises in Lienchiang County's Dongyin Township from 6-9 p.m. During the exercises, witnesses gave differing accounts of either tracer fire or flares landing on a hill behind Sanjia Village on Xiyin Island and starting a fire, reported

However, as the water supply was insufficient, firefighters had to go back and obtain more water and another fire truck was dispatched. The fire was brought under control by 9 p.m.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to nearby B&Bs or private homes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Prospects for a PR with Taiwan becomes smaller than ever...

With the continuous salami-slicing by the US and her allies, China may no longer be afforded sufficient time to wait.

Maybe now it's time for China to drop the diplomatic and financial nukes...

To @5unrise and others SDF members currently in Taiwan: Maybe you guys should consider the possibility of packing things up.
Folks who thought the world dodged a WWIII bullet last week are in for a surprise
I give to til end of August before all hell breaks loose!
AR will be the bare minimum, possibly up to MAD
