"The real reason why Vikrant did not install the bulbous bow lies in its manufacturer. Because the manufacture of the bulbous bow is extremely complicated, you need to bend a few centimeters of high-strength steel plate into the required three-dimensional curved surface and then weld it into a sphere. There can be no mistakes in the process, otherwise it will cause serious consequences. The Cochin Shipyard lacks the necessary manufacturing equipment and technical personnel, and the designers are happy to save trouble. After all, the blade-shaped bow is a steel plate welded to the end, which saves money and everyone has less trouble."

If true that is dumb AF.

If that's the problem could you fix it by adding one retrospectively to the hull?
Here's the photo.

They don't have a drydock big enough, note how close the bow is to the edge.

Here is that English translated story on a Chinese portal site in what I think is the original Chinese text.

The Vikrant carrier design was originally made by Ficantieri (Italy). Older sketches I have seen on the net of it had a bulbous bow. But it seems to have lost it somewhere between that and getting built in India.

I think if the problem was manufacturing the bulbous bow they could just have outsourced that and installed it. But yeah it seems like a strange omission.

While I think it is too early to say that there is a major defect with a Vikrant based on under a minute of video footage with no info on speed/meteorological conditions, it is amusing how butthurt the Jai Hind types are considering how much BS they and even the Indian Army invents to denigrate Chinese or Pakistanis military equipment.
