Yeah Huawei kind of surprised me how well the demos ran, time will tell if in the real world it will also be this smoothly. The super device concept looked really cool how you can easily attach IoT devices to your main phone device.

I'm reading articles from the US where they act as if China's operation system is going to fail and China will go back to Android. I don't think they know about the trade war part where the US forced this situation to happen. There is no going back to Android because it's not just a simple choice like choosing strawberry or chocolate syrup on top of your ice cream. Do they actually think China is going surrender to the US on everything just to be able to use Android? Just like China will not be able to survive without Australian coal? Or Paul McCartney holding a press conference to tell the world he won't be attending the Beijing Olympics thinking China will experience turmoil because he's not there? No this is the US's Pandora's Box they will not be able to close because they would rather believe no one can survive without them.
I already expected it would happen like that, ooh it just android underneath with a ios kind of skin on top. They even claim the MateView screen is a Mac rip off. Its like ooh it has a rectangle as shape must be a apple clone.
I don't think Huawei will go back the point of no return has already been passed, god knows what a republican president in 2024 will do if they go back to Android and GMS. And google themselves are also moving away from android toward a Microkernel designed Operating system called Fuchsia.
Their "Super-Device" management system of IoT devices and the Service Center system are incredible. They provide so much flexibility and open architecture that independent developers will work miracles with these features.
This is simply a glimpse on whats coming from Huawei on the future. If I am reading them correctly then their ambition is breathtaking. Now that they can also use the "patriotic" card to their advantage to pressure other Chinese companies into using their ecosystem...
Xiaomi and BBK Electronics (Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus etc) have already said that they wont use it, but they are now facing tremendous pressure inside China to either use HarmonyOS or quickly produce their own OS.
If they keep stonewalling Huawei, letting Huawei present itself as being the "only" company holding the "patriotic" flag protecting China then these companies are toast.
Masterstroke from Huawei. I am just waiting for the Huawei marketing campaign to start saying how they are following the CPC guidance on self reliance, and breaking through "chokepoints" for the benefit of the country while some other domestic compabies are not helping on these efforts and are actively working against it actually, there will be a total meltdown haha
As a general rule, earnestly use CPC slogans (backed by solid actions) = you win
If your are seen to work against China's interests and you are unpatriotic = get the Alibaba and Jack Ma treatment
In the case of BBK it was one of the higher level managers who claimed that they won't use HarmonyOS and disparaged Huawei, but he has since apologized for the statement and left the company. I think that BBK are open to using the OS.
