Just wondering, how do you identify those smaller ships from the aircraft carrier.
They are just smudges in the picture. Or is this a Navy statement release?

I can't tell with absolute certainty whether you're trolling or not, but based on your posting history, I'm beginning to suspect that.
Well to be honest do post other stuff here too. Plus I think Im the only guy here who posts real Taiwan military news and info on the Taiwan thread instead of the usual political squabbling.

Could you clarify? Are you saying that with the exception of the Taiwan military thread, your posts elsewhere were just for trolling? If so, why would you do that?

Maybe it was just a mistake from him

@tupolevtu144 you should apply some critical thinking when you read some sources. For example on this matter, no media had reported this, not even the US media who would love to see China lose "face".

You should also look for past history. For example Taiwanese media are regularly putting out fake news about how China missile tests fail, its planes crashing etc.

The tug boats are also mostly used on ports not accompanying on-sea trips by carriers.

It is good to have alternate sources but this also means that you must double and triple check everything before posting

It made it onto Taiwanese mainstream news. Just saw it on TV. Posting the online version here:

According to a news from the Ministry of Defense of Japan’s Integrated Staff and Supervision Department on April 27, at about 7 pm local time on April 26, the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force discovered the Liaoning ship carrier formation sailing northward in the waters about 160 kilometers south of Miyakojima.

The report stated that the Liaoning fleet sailed towards the East China Sea after crossing the Miyako Strait.

This was actually a bait by mainlander to tease Taiwanese as a joke. Apparently they took the bait and made it official news.
There were other entertaining news like three Gorges dam was about to collapse etc etc which they very much enjoyed, even though nothing happened.
Life without these news would be too stressful for them, people have to understand.
Reminds me of how Pinkov got baited and disgraced, years ago...once again, Taiwan news media proved how unreliable and unprofessional they truly are.

Typically, what released for public consumption is not the highest resolution, means they've something else of better quality to work with.

Also, quality journalism means those who run the article would cross-reference with other sources such as JMSDF's press release (if it's Liaoning, it's very likely the carrier battlegroup would traverse through the Miyako Strait) and if possible, USN's own press releases to cross-reference the dates.

That of course provided the said journalist(s) not merely copy-paste from forum like ours and Twitter, and not doing his/her homework, as expected from those in Taiwan and HK.

@tupolevtu144, here's an image of Liaoning taken yesterday by the Japanese Maritime Self-defense Force. I'm amazed at how fast Liaoning can sail on just one boiler. Just look at the her wake, she must have been traveling around 20 knots! :p
