Do we know if the PLA is also considering Caseless rounds for the next SAW? BTW we had a few of the QBU-88 DMRs imported into Canada back in the day. They had really bad accuracy and were quite expensive ~$3K.
The QBU-88 has a terrible reputation. The gun is called the hostage killer in China due to- well you know. I'm more curious about the MOA on the new 191 DMR.

To be fair, the hostage was alive but nevertheless she was shot instead of the hostage taker.
But "thanks" to that incident, the Chinese police became serious in sort after proper sniper rifles, and there was a small explosion of sniper rifles in the market for a time, but eventually shrink to CS/LR3 and its spinoff models.
For DMR requirements, over the years there has been efforts to improve QBU-88 but now everybody anticipating the QBU-191...
Tactical ear cans, elbow and knee pads, rucksacks, visors, pistol holsters etc. Maybe it's due to the angles, but I see two different types of ear cans in the first and second image. The cans in the first image is thicker, whereas the spotter in the second image appears to be wearing a thinner variant.
The first guy is wearing an Ops Core style helmet while the second guy is wearing the new issue ACH style profile helmet which is why that ear piece is partially obscured. Also Im sure they are wearing something similar to a MBITR headset, which covers only the left ear.
Otherwise, love the new modern gear and camo! I hope the PLA will allow soldiers to paint their weapons as well.

Highly doubt the latter. The PLA is anything if not conservative in aspects like that. The US Army didn’t allow that for a long time. Only does in combat areas of SF units.
Yes I wouldn't be surprised if PLA senior enlisted is as bad as US Army and Marine Corps 1st Sgts and Sgts Maj. The latter in general are way more concerned about uniformity even while in a combat zone than the morale and proper training of their subordinates.
The Marine Corps definitely only allows MARSOC to do it but I do remember regular Army line units were allowed to paint their rifles for deployment but had to strip the paint off when they rotated back before returning them to the armory.
These drills have 0 practical use. I don't know why China keeps doing these kinds of training.
