South China Sea Strategies for other nations (Not China)

The article was dated Sept 1 which I thought would be a recent exercise. Did not realised you already posted a few days ago. Sorry. Too many FONOPs under the Trump administration. Difficult to keep current. Lol.
interesting was the recent Qingdao port-visit request

Give active diplomacy a chance to solve these serious problems in the South China Sea. The countries Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and even Indonesia (EEZ Natunas) with China have to continue discussing/negotiating sensibly & with foresight to solve outstanding issues/problems. Nothing will be solved with FON patrols and PLA-N/Military counter responses. The possibility of eventual major “flare-ups”/war-like environment will effect trade and investments for all countries in the region.

"Diplomacy" in this instance is that everybody top it at the "shoot water cannon" and/or "ram each other's coastguard vessels" until whichever side decided to throw in the towel. That, you should understand, can take a very long time.

I think that the ASEAN nations should change their strategy with China. Instead of fighting them I think they should try to figure out a compromise. UNCLOS is outdated, but it is still the agreed upon "law." But maybe there should be efforts to rewrite it in a way that reflects a country's necessity rather than just a set distance.

@Team Blue In due time bro in due time, as China has risen to prominence so will her persuasive power. She know that ASEAN is playing both side thus the need for patience. First There is a need for economic integration and RCEP is one of them, with that linkage China can assert his voice and a COC in SCS will be agree among the claimants without any interference from the West.

Looks like Indonesia is buying 42 Rafales and 36 F-15EX.

If this belongs in another thread, direct me there. I browsed back but did not find an Indonesia thread.
