I think current Defense Minister Dong Jun should be promoted to vice chairman of the CMC. He was former commander of the Navy. Former vice chairman Xu Qiliang who was commander of the Air Force did a good job during his time as vice chairman of CMC. Get more people from the Navy and Air Force in the CMC.

Ok folks. I think I finally found Gordon Chang's replacement.

My favourite? "Fierce gun battle with Xi Jinping's pre-posititoned guards".

Forget Xi Jinping Thought. It's all about Xi Jinping's Art of the War.

Seriously, I don't know why people feel the need to dramatise what is clearly just an internal bureaucratic power struggle. But I also feel a certain degree of jealousy that there are well-paid "China watchers" who can promote these narratives and get amply compensated and even a certain amount of social respect among their academic employers. Respect the grift.

They forgot to include Rambo busting into the middle of the gunfight and lobbing grenades, causing several troops to fly into the air after a large Hollywood style explosion. Then, Jackie Chan arrives on the scene with Chris Tucker who says he can't fight with chopsticks.

seems like Policies starting to take effects. we could see the reversal in number of births in coming years if this trend continues.

Marriage Registrations Jump Across China Last Year.

Many provinces and cities across China saw a sharp rise in marriage registrations last year, indicating that policies promoting wedlock and childbearing are starting to show results..

marriage in Shanghai surged 38.7 percent in 2025 from the year before to 125,102

in Fujian province, the number of marriages soared 12 percent over the period to 169,756

In the provincial capital of Fuzhou, the number of marriage registrations soared 20.3 percent to 37,887.

Nanjing, up 18.2 percent, Suzhou, a jump of 33.5 percent, Wuxi 32.3 percent jump, while Changzhou reported 23,082 marriages, an increase of 28.5 percent. Shenzhen had massive 28.5 percent jump. even Eastern Jiangxi province jumped 3.4 percent.

So it's basically just a powerstruggle.

CMC now down to just 2 members.

Will this matter for PLA? Probably not. CMC and similar bodies are inherently political.

Nevertheless, this shows us that:

1. Xi is paranoid.

2. Maybe he is right to be.

3. He clearly doesn't trust his own people.

What's even the point of CMC going forward? Just two members left.
To be honest, it may not be such a bad thing that all the old dinosaurs are gone. Now the PLA leadership has a chance to be replaced with some new blood.

Haha, this is a temporary blip. China is not even remotely there yet when it comes to pro-birth policies. It will take drastic, life changing, societal norm changing level of policy changes to actually have effect on the birth rate. It will have to be reverse-one-child policy level of changes.

Just handing a few hundred dollars is going to do nothing to improve birth rate.

If the data holds true, it is indeed a rare positive sign, with a substantial increase in the first year. However, I also acknowledge that China's current subsidies remain insufficient. Typically, the first year following the introduction of a stimulus policy yields the strongest results, with its effectiveness gradually diminishing thereafter. Often, sustained reinforcement and promotion are required. We can anticipate further optimization in China's efforts to reduce the cost of raising children and to improve working hours for the labor force.

data is from civil Affairs Bureau.. and its not like 3-4 percent increase many regions saw 20 percent jump. this is very significant.

remember, this pro-birth policy just started and best is yet to come. we may see more encouraging steps from provincial governments.
