Honestly, I still don‘t see this as an aircraft carrier! If yes, even more so it would mean, the stern would be on the left and the ship would face to the right, totally different to what we (or at least me) knows so far!

I accept the fact, that building speed is an argument, but to take only thsi and „large modules“ as prof for an AC while so much - IMO almost everything - speaks against one, makes no sense, even if I have no better explanation what it could be.
It’s ether a carrier or an LHD but it would be huge for an LHD, it could be a civilian ship but what we have seen doesn’t show that and the time it’s taken too. What we know for fact is it’s a very large ship taken place wether it’s a carrier or not waits to be seen

Just because that bow section that seems too close to the drydock front doesn't seem to indicate a "pointy" hull, doesn't mean that later on when more modules are installed it won't be moved further back and the "pointy" bit added. Why do they proceed the way they are is indeed puzzling, maybe OPSEC to keep watchers guessing for as long as possible, maybe the the need to keep the mid section of the drydock as free as possible for movement/work for now while working on the vessel's mid/rear section, maybe a combination of the above. Meanwhile we continue to bite our nails with anticipation.

I sometimes have the feeling some here are trying desperately to find any strange reason to explain WHY this still MUST be an aircraft carrier, even if everything is strange this time and different to the previous vessels:

- It seems to be built in two separate blocks / large modules ... no problem, the modules will be moved and turned around! But why not straight away from the beginning in the correct order?
- It seems to be built with the stern on the left! ... no problem, it's a new carrier and so a new method of building it is applied!

Really? If one walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it most likely is a dock, but if one does not walk like a duck and does not quack like a duck, is it at least likely to look for alternative explanations that it might not be a duck instead of trying to explain it with this duck can meows like a cat and run like a horse since it is a very unique duck! ;)

The reason why is because it’s something big and unlikely to be an civilian ship, and it would be huge for any other type of naval ship so the best guess is an aircraft carrier

And that's the only reason!?? Come on ...
I am not an expert on carriers but it’s going to be a massive ship and unlikely to be a civilian ship. We have zero clue what it’s going to be but it being a carrier isn’t out of the question. What do you think it’s going to be if not for a carrier?

We really don't know after the Type 076 which is really something entirely unique. There had never been a LHA or any non-carrier with a catapult.

China has a ship industry of such unprecedented scale and ability that anything could be possible. In fact, not only possible but practical. It makes sense to put this enormous capacity to use in exploring many different and new things.

It could be a carrier.

Or an arsenal ship,

Or a giant landing craft for Taiwan.

It could also be a brand kind of new civilian vessel that takes a bit longer to design and build out like a nuclear icebreaker, a new energy containership, a space vehicle launch platform or even a mobile offshore nuclear powerplant -- all of which had been mentained before.

Exactly and as I explained ... it is strange that progress is so slow, its size is indeed a good argument, but a lot simply does not fit and even if I have no better explanation, I would be careful to be too sure at the moment until we know more!

It could definitely be anything you mentioned we really just don’t know until whatever it is moves further along but for now we have no idea so a carrier is still a possibility even if some signs don’t point towards it.

I absolutely agree, we can’t really tell what it is until it’s further along in the building process.
