Damn, for a second I thought the watermark read "DEINO" and that these had been taken by Deino himself!

P.S. Where is he?

Forgot to mention that I am there too and will go in the crowds for Friday show but would like to get to the outside of the airfield in that bldg that is multi floor, is that possible?? There is a bus that goes around the airport towards Golden Beach park and I suspect the great Picts that are well lit are coming from there and not at the show grounds..

Can I just point out some time back when Taiwan bought AH64E it was joked that they were not even good for antiship attack. Yet here we have the PRC setting up there attack choppers for antiship roles.

I can't remember who said what, but AH-64Es that ROC bought lacks the weapons for any sort of credible anti ship role.
Hellfires are nice, and will sink a small FAC or speedboat, but to kill anything bigger you want something like sea skua/venom or YJ-9.
So yes, AH-64Es that ROC bought aren't really good for antiship purposes, but that is more dependent on the missiles that they bought (or rather didn't buy), than some kind of inherent limitation in using helicopters or attack helicopters for anti ship duties.

anyway in the case of that specific cruise missile, we don't know if it is intended for anti ship or land attack purposes.

To be fair, though, ROC get their AH-64E for the purpose of anti-tank, which is well suited to take out amphibious vehicles and AAVs; bigger vessels they got it covered with AShMs launch from fixed installations / mobile launchers / warships / fighter jets. Of course, whether those platforms would come to play by the time things moved to amphibious landing phase is beyond the scope of this thread.

In short, those who think AH-64E with anti-ship role in mind is still lived in 1990s, still thinking PLAN launch amphibious assault with commendered fishing boats - yeah, you can easily take them out with 70mm Hydra rockets.

The issue is that back when they began buying AH-64Es there was talk about how they would be used against landing ships and so on. Obviously the ROCA themselves would recognize that their primary purpose is anti tank, however the dismissal of AH-64Es as an anti shipping capability did not just emerge out of nowhere.

This is a new radar. From what I read, a shipborne version was developed first.

SR2410C has already equipped two of the export Type 056 frigates for Bangladesh. Should this enter PLAN service, it can potentially replace all Type 364 applications, such as being the main radar for the Type 056 class, the secondary radar for the Type 052C/D and Type 054A, along with just about every other PLAN warship that isn't the Type 055 and larger than the Type 022 Houbei.

The radar has been displayed in previous expos but not in a full sized land based form like this. At least now we can ascertain this is more likely to be an AESA. LIke the Type 364, this works on C band, with SR standing for Search Radar and the letter on the end of SR2410C standing for C-band. There is reason why the Type 364 needs to be replaced. Its still a mechanical 2D scanning radar, while this is a digital beam forming 3D radar.
