It's unfortunate that we still haven't seen it in the official media. Wonder when it's going to debut and especially participate in those large scale exercises.

Wait till they've a full squadron equipped with it, all tested and certified, then it'd be time to call in the CCTV to showcase it as yet another all-Chinese achievement.

Or if you want it faster, perhaps wait/hope for something flare up in East Asia again, and US flexed muscles at China once more, then China will unveil it sooner in response...

That first pic is fantastic -- hopefully we'll see this chopper make its exercise debut in concert with other helicopters and ground forces soon, which I'm sure will be a sight.

The WZ-10 looks pretty damn good too, defintely better than the LCH and rooviak... the PLA made a good choice with the matte black paint scheme ^^

Pity they won't station something like that with the HK garrison, so pretty much fat chance to get a closer look in foreseeable future.

They might put a naval version on the Varyag eventually, or a future Chinese LHD, so I guess you might get a good look if one of them makes a port call in HK. Other than that, the only time you will see one of these anywhere near HK is if aliens invade, battle of LA style. :p

Perhaps on the second batch if they get more powerful engines. But if it does use WZ 9 with its lower power its unlikely it could carry that kind of payload.

is the engine for this baby designed and made in China ? .. I read somewhere a while ago, the engine is actually made in Canada, not sure if it is still the case

In its early stage prototype it was so, it used the P&W Canada's flagship model, the PT6C series. But the extensive redesigns spotted on these initial batch (pre-production perhaps?) including the vastly different engine compartment, it's now suggested that the domestic engine WZ-9 is being used. And since WZ-9 is rather underpowered, the redesigns were geared to lower the weight of the airframe, with as little sacrifice on performance as possible.
