Big different from the prototype to the production release, they must have gotten a different engine and fine tuned it more and now happy with it. They will be coming out like crazy like they say in China "like making dumplings".

td not carry heat exchanger similiar to AH-64. or "JD-3" Hot brick IRCM .

man! those free flowing side venting giant exhaust cans will attract IR/heatseekers like white on rice! I hope this chopper has awesome ECM and decent active countermeasures otherwise the poor pilots will have very short lifespan against more advanced enemies toting MANPADS and SAMs.

The fact is none of the PLA helicopters have heat sinks on the exhaust. Not that they don't aware of the problem I think, it's probably they've yet develop a non-mechanical one - weight saving is critical, especially when China still have yet to produce a powerful engine.

Is it possible to develop some sort of fuel cell technology for heli, eliminating combustion engine altogether?
There are two problems. Best known is that fuel cells are relatively expensive, for the time being, The main problem is that they are too heavy, also for the time being. The power weight ratio for helicopters is higher than that for winged aircraft, so we'll see them first used in winged aircraft.
Aircraft fuel cells should use liquid fuel, because a fuel system for liquid or compressed hydrogen would be too heavy.
I expect such fuel fells to be of the type Solid Oxide Fuel Cell ( SOFC ) operating at a temperature of about 500 Celsius.

I thought it would be hard to achieve fighter speed and performance short of some engine involving combustion, whereas for helicopters electrical powers can be used directly to turn the rotors.

Using gas turbine engines in helicopters was an enormous improvement, because the power weight ratio of gas turbines is so much better than that of piston engines. It is doubtful if you can approach the power weight ratio of piston engines with a combination of fuel cells and electro motors any time soon. This will not be compensated by a lower fuel consumption.
There is a place to achieve an additional advantage. The gears between the engines and the rotors are vital, complicated and heavy. Those between the electro motors and the rotors might be simpler and a little less heavy.
All together: wait for fuel cells to find application in light propeller aircraft before thinking about using them in helicopters.
