Meby this is indeed a spent cartridge catcher, because we dont know how much amoo can carry inside. This explain the small holes on te box, cool down the hot cartidges and eliminate the remaining smoke.

Good thinking, but a case collector does not make much sense, as the Z-9 does not have a conventional tail rotor which would be susceptible to "brassing", but a Fenestron. I guess we'll have to wait for more pics to make better estimations as to its purpose.

Maybe it's just an upgrade or rebuild for the existing Z-9s? The PLA isn't just going to throw all the attack versions away.
I don't really think so, because I think that it looks more stealthy than the previous Z-9s I've seen. Looks to be entirely new builds to me.

so whats the latest with the WZ10? is it in production or testing stage is it certified?
i think they might have an issue right now with the engine, since they can't get any more PWC engines and WZ-9 might not be ready for mass production yet. So, that's probably why we haven't seen more of them. But the initial batch should be in service for a while by now.
