Interesting that they can't be refurbished, maybe given to another friendly Navy.

This press release from the Wuhan shipyard is probably about the new Yuan variant. It says that more than 60% of the systems onboard are either new or improved, and it has been delivered to the navy at the end of 2021. Of course, this doesn't mean it's been commissioned, but it does indicate that development on the variant has largely concluded.

I have no idea.
At least two, given two subs have different markings. Also one sub sighted coming out from Wenchong, and another sub coming out from Jiangnan.
No, 1 or 2 from Wuhan, 1 from Jiangnan.
