I think there is at least two of them. Maybe even more. You can see the differences in the markings, plus one sub came out from Wenchong and another from Jiangnan.

I will borrow your post to ask the question "what is the reason for this kind sail design?"

There might be hydrodynamic reasons for this, reducing noise and turbulence, but I think one particular reason that stands out in my opinion is reduction of RCS. Why bother with RCS on a submarine? This is when the sub is on the surface or near the surface against scanning radars from overhead aircraft.

I wonder how much of the fabrication works would actually go to Pakistan or whether they're actually just assembling modules. I think it's more likely the latter considering Pakistan's technology/economy is still quite weak
