Zimbabwe's Mister Ugly pageant has record number of entries

I don't care if the contestants are voluntarily but it is pure WRONG. It can be humor for awhile until later on it provides self hatred of one's race.:eek: I mean what's the sole purpose of this contest? If you're proud of natural god given looks than there's no need to show off one's "ugliness" to the world. I don't know that's just my opinion.

100% agree. The only thing it will create is more stereotypes and racial bigotry.

C'mon, guys! It needn't be about race, nor do I think that this is.
It's a profound, and much needed, play on the stupidity/vapidity of beauty contests, something which I think needs to be done more. The whole emphasis on superficial physical beauty is so adolescent. I think it's great that men can acknowledge and embrace their superficial ugliness. You can bet no woman would have the humility to admit to it, with out numerous euphemisms.

What needs to be criticized are those vapid, sexist, degrading "beauty" contests that reduce women to objects!

I am an ugly man, and I'm proud of it!
But, I'm not fat, though!:D

Not many people would understand the meaning behind the ugly contest. It can easily get out of hand and lead to racism and self hatred of one's race through this contest. IF one is comfortable in your own skin than you don't need to prove it to the world.

Hehehe...watch this video and listen to these California people on seeing (and videoing) something in the night sky they are completely un-used to:

That was a Trident missile test, fired from a US Navy Ohio Class SSBN.

Can't blame em though . I've never seen a SLBM launch myself. I would however know it wasn't an asteroid BUT whatever it is I don't think hiding inside a car would've mattered much from a safety standpoint LOL.

Also is the kid's name canola?!

everything doesn't have to be for mass consumption, does it? that's what's wrong with the world, today, everything has to appeal to an uninformed and uncritical mass audience.

Guys...SD is not religous. STOP bringing up religious comments and grievances here.

We do not suspend the rules for religion in the "What the Heck "Thread.

If you want to discuss that stuff...go find another forum that allows it.

SD is not a place for anti-Crhistian, anti-Muslim, anti-Budhism, anti-JEwish, etc. positions or rhetoric. Period.

Consider this a WARNING.

Any more of this will lead to suspensions.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION.

She received her driver's licence, complete with a photo of her wearing a colander, last week.

"I feel delighted that my Pastafarianism has been respected by the Massachusetts RMV," Ms Miller told The Humanist, the American Humanist Association's magazine.

"While I don't think the government can involve itself in matters of religion, I do hope this decision encourages my fellow Pastafarian atheists to come out and express themselves as I have."

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, whose members refer to themselves as "Pastafarians", is a parody religion which takes the view that the existence of a Flying Spaghetti Monster is as likely as the existence of other gods.

The movement was sparked 10 years ago by a satirical letter written to protest Kansas schools teaching intelligent design — an alternative form of creationism.

Seriously WTHeck! look If you want to wear a colander on your head, More power two You... Personally It just gets in the Way. But if you want to then say it's A Religion... Seriously... A parody Religion?! That is now Recognized by the State ( of mass)?
I am Agnostic So I walk that fine line of Believing and not. And I live In Massachusetts but the only Time I ever Wore a colander on my head was when I was playing war as a kid. I believe in tolerance but up to a point. If you want to create a Parody To Basically insult the Entirety of Belief by Proclaiming that a Flying Spaghetti monster is a basis of a spiritual belief then In your case... I think you deserve a kick in the head.

Well that's more of a customization, You go to the RMV( DMV) pay a fee and can get all kinds of custom decorated plates, It's like the Postal service issuing novelty stamps, as long as the design meets certain criteria IE being able to be read then no issue.
