The silly thing with the UK is that they still have a large standing army which is of no use whatsoever except for neo-colonial activities like Afghanistan. Meanwhile, strategic services like the Navy go neglected.

And so long as the UK prioritises "being good partners for the Americans" over its real security interests, we can expect this trend to continue.

Unfortunately you are right. In a hypothetical battle, the British army would be decimated in the event of a full scale conventional war with a first tier army. Luckily she has NATO to rely on.

Can confirm HMS Prince of Wales is afloat. Brought out of the dry dock where she was assembled in the fog this morning. She is now alongside in the basin to continue fitting out Weirdly no official announcement or coverage by RN or ACA

I think the lack of coverage may be a new policy by the RN, if you don't tell the politicians a ship even exists. they won't try to axe it at the first opportunity! Henceforward expect the Army to announce they only have enough soldiers to guard Buck House and the RAF is just a glider club!
