Britain considers Turkish UAV's:

Making special statements to CNN Türk Correspondent Ahmet Melik Türkeş, Minister Varank noted that the UK is very seriously interested in Turkish UAVs. Minister Varank stated that Turkey offers different options to the UK regarding UAVs. Noting that the UK is interested in Turkish UAVs, Varank emphasized that the decision is now on the British side. “We offered them options. They are currently seriously considering these options.”

I find it quite difficult to belive that Britain would really go for Turkish UAVs. Dont they have their own drone program which they can use for their needs.

On the other hand, Turkish UAVs are bow "battle-proven" and they have got a lot of battle experience to iterate their design. Plus Turkey has a robust military drones offerings for sale.

It would be quite interesting if Britain would choice them; a coup for Turkey's defence industry

I don't find it difficult to believe at all. America has the most developed aerospace industry yet imports military planes from Brazil.

People need to stop thinking about drones as if they are a single entity. As drone techology is advancing they are fill more and more roles.

This would be good news for Turkey I suppose, but if I was a Turk my concern would be the risk of these being used in the facilitation of war crimes, or proliferation to terrorist organisations.

Turkey asks U.S. to buy 40 F-16 jets to upgrade Air Force -sources

WASHINGTON, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Turkey has made a request to the U.S. to buy 40 Lockheed Martin-made F-16 fighter jets and nearly 80 modernization kits for its existing warplanes, as the NATO ally looks to modernize its Air Force after the purchase of F-35 jets fell through, sources familiar with the matter said.

The deal, worth billions, is still working its way through the Foreign Military Sales process which is subject to approval by the U.S. State Department as well as the U.S. Congress which can block deals.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the deal.

If this deal goes through then it seems that Turkey will have an F-16 fleet of 120 F-16V's/Block 70 with another potentially 118 indigenous modernized F-16 'Ozgur' and 29 Block 50+ for a total of 267 F-16's.
Is this a sign that the US-Turkey relationship has recovered to a certain degree or just testing the water temperature?

Thats just Turkish try to save invested 1,4 billion dollars to F-35 program, so F-16V will be compensation for that money...

Not how Turks play the game. Turkey was willing to risk 20 billion dollars worth of F-35 business for a S-400 system. What is interesting is, they know the congress will block this, so are they looking for excuse to procure another S-400 system?

This F-16 deal is presumably backed by the Biden admin and partially a way for Turkey to get its $1.4 billion back. It is also a test to see if the US-Turkey relationship is able to be saved. If the congress stops this deal than Turkey has no alternative but to look elsewhere for defense matters and thus ending whatever defense relations the US and Turkey have.

Imo the reason for denying the F-35 was not perse the S-400, but long term grievances Turkey and the US had since the start of the Syrian conflict where the US and other 'allies' abandoned Turkey entirely and supported a terror group in Syria against Turkey. Turkey can easily get back into the F-35 program despite the S-400 purchase. For this to happen, Turkey 'just' needs to recognize the YPG/PKK statelet on its border. It is akin to Turkey drinking a cup of poison if it does that.

Also in an interview today, the SSB director Ismail Demir stated the following:

"The following issue was brought up by the US administration. In terms of reaching an agreement on the amount (the money paid for the F-35 is mentioned), there was a debate as to whether the next generation F-16s could join the fleet. Turkey has a demand in this regard. His (the USA) answer will be awaited. Su-57, Su-35 notebook can always be opened if we have to. We started to modernize the F-16 in terms of both structural and avionics, electronics and software. It may be easier if cooperation can be made here (with the USA), but if not, if we have to cut our own belly, we will cut it.
