The first part is indeed a belief, the second is fact.

I don't read Turkish, but I would bet some of the electronics boxes and mechanical equipment in that Baykar tweet can trace their heritage back to Anka work. Even if they might not be the same part numbers, chances are they derive from the same know how. Such things may not be as high-profile as an EO turret or engine, but the same dynamic applies (and I'll note that Baykar aims to use the PD170 engine in the TB-3 - it's too powerful for the TB-2 really).
You seems to have a grudge against Baykar. Should've stated that from the beginning. It would've saved me precious effort. Good luck with that while Baykar sells their products like hot cakes :)

  • TAI's main role here is design, finishing geometry. The outer geometry is finished, the control surfaces are finished, now we do the structural skeleton, the shaping. Everything from A to Z, including the engine, will be local and national when the time comes.
  • For this reason, we include Turkish companies in the project as much as possible and give contracts. We say, 'let anyone who can do it come''. We have ASELSAN for avionics and computer hardware, we have Havelsan for software, TAI also has its own software team.
  • The aircraft has a very effective radar in its nose. We gave this task to ASELSAN. There are sensors on the aircraft, we gave them to Aselsan and Havelsan. Central computers are made by Tubitak-Bilgem and Pavotek is developing the power distribution system.
  • He pointed out that the TFX consists of 20 thousand parts and stated that a ready-made engine will be used at the beginning, and then the engine to be developed by TRMotor will be integrated into the aircraft. We are working to produce the transparent canopy locally.
  • The Hurjet will use the Gokbey's metal stress test infrastructure and afterwards the MMU too.
  • He stated that they formed a partnership to develop and produce landing gear that will carry a load of 60 tons with the force emerging during the landing. We have a partnership with Altinay ,TAI and an Italian company.
  • The Italian company also makes the landing gear for Hürjet together with Altinay:

More importantly, going from 2x170hp diesels to 2x450shp turboprops is going to absolutely demolish Aksungur's endurance. Not a clever plan.
I did state that the platform can be enlarged before fitting the more powerful engines. The fuel capacity would naturally be increased correspondingly. The Aksungur design can in this way yield a drone with a large payload, which can be an ideal drone for the types of missions I listed.

Fair enough, but I don't quite see the point then, with Akinci already occupying that niche. If you wanted more endurance and/or payload, it'd probably be more straightforward to modify the latter, think Reaper -> CPB (more span, MTOW increase, keep the engines). You'd also risk losing parts commonality with Anka (AFAIK, the forward fuselage is unified between both).

Generally speaking, Baykar and TAI product ranges are nicely complementary without much overlap (strongly indicating that the efforts were coordinated by the customer, as pointed out earlier).
