you appear to be knowledgeable, so what's a good site to follow action on the ground, I mean something better than

thanks
I don't think I am knowledgeable at least about the middle East. It's a cluster****. Still if you want to know about Syrian fiasco I suggest to follow the following ones
Al-masdar news(English, Syrian perspective- incomplete picture)
Trt (English, Turkish perspective- complete picture)
Rudaw( English, Iraqi Kurdish perspective- incomplete picture)
Ivan sidorenko(English, Syrian perspective- incomplete picture)
Liveuamap is good but only for maps and not for analysis. Regarding analysis I try to follow both sides to have a clearer idea.
Honestly speaking I think turkey is in a mess. Russia doesn't want to leave with a festering wound in idlib(note that Kurds are not the problem for either Russia or Syria). Erdogan can't back out after all his rhetorics. By threatening to open the refugee gate turkey has completely burnt the European bridge. I can only imagine how happy the Saudis and the emiratis are now.

A glimpse of how serious the situation, and how disasters can unravel.

Erdogan is expected by most Turks to respond commensurately so it's not impossible for these strikes to have happened in the last day or so. Also knocking out these sites and Pantsirs are also not beyond the capabilities of Turkey by any measure. Don't care to doubt or believe in these clips, what matters is Turkey seems to have no outs or alternatives on offer except for complete withdrawal which won't be too palatable for many groups involved or Erdogan's reputation. Therefore only escalation between SAA and Turkey. Interesting to see how S-400, nuclear plant, and turkstream go now. Not to mention Patriot, F-35, Su-57/Su-35 interest.

Su-57 and Su-35 are out of question now as Turkish F-16 shot down two more Su-24. It's more political than military. If Erdogan has to stay in Power, he has to strike YPG. By now, Turkey-Russia relationship is out of the window. Erdogan was having ice cream with Putin, that is now a history.

Turkey became the second country to destroy Buk-M and Pantsir ADS after Israel:

As with the earlier Israeli Pantsir kills, it's worth noting that we have only one side of the story - and only the last few seconds of it, in any case. We have no way of knowing whether it was the first or the 50th shots that hit, and how many drones & missiles the ADS shot down in exchange (reports indicate a double digit number of Turkish UAVs lost over the past few days). Further, like 2 of the 3 Pantsirs scored by the Israelis, the Buk was not operating at the time but on the move, so the loss isn't really a reflection of its performance.

Meanwhile, let's not forget either than an ancient S-200 (a poorly maneuverable missile almost the size of its target!) managed to take down an F-16I with the latest of the much vaunted Israeli EW gear. Turkey's reliance on UAVs rather than manned assets may tell a story too - the scarce available evidence does not objectively allow the conclusion that Russian-made air defence systems are faring so badly.

There is always a story to the story.

Burn-through range is an inescapable function of radar science. The aim of every attacking aircraft is to avoid the defending radar achieving burn-through. The more closely an aircraft approaches the victim radar source, the more likely is the radar signal to break through the jamming noise. The radar skin’s return power increases as the fourth power of reducing range while the received jammer power increases only as the square of reducing range.

In the case of the Israeli F-16 shot down, the F-16 knew there was burn-through but chose to ignore the threat to press in the attack. The internal probe concluded “professional error” in judgement by the pilot.

The investigation showed that the F-16’s warning systems had behaved properly, and that the crew possessed sufficient intelligence to complete the mission successfully.

However, it also found that the crew did not correctly balance their desire to complete the attack mission with the need to defend themselves from counterattack.

In other words, the RWR/ESM already told the pilot that there was a lock-on but the pilot failed to engage defensive measures by prioritizing mission completion.
