STM wins NATO's intelligence software tender

All NATO headquarters and bases in the world will provide their intelligence flows with software to be developed within the Turkish defense industry.

Interesting and long interview with Ukrainian television and Baykar. Interesting part during it was this:


Ukrainians asked $10 million to connect the future Baykar facility to the electric grid and it would take 2 years.

Contract signed between SNT and BMC for the delivery of ~90-100 EST15K transmissions worth ~70 million Euro for the Altay MBT starting from 30 jan 2023 to 31 december 2027.

An option for further ~140-160 transmissions is available for ~130 million Euro from 1 jan 2028 to 31 december 2030.
Note #4 saying: "The contract amount and contract period may change during the execution of the contract. "

IMO, First ~100 Altay's will be fitted with a Korean powerpack. The next ~150 Altay's will be fitted with also a Korean powerpack or the BATU depending on its succes.

Meaning BATU won't be ready for serial production at least until 2027?

Looking at the delivery dates, ~100 Altay T1 will be built with another ~150 Altay T2. Altay T3 with an unmanned turret (basically a new tank altogether) will thus be produced from 2030/1 onwards.

How will Turkish tank fleet look like by 2030?:

- 250 Altay T1 and T2.
- 280 upgraded Leopard 2.
- 170 modernized Sabra.
- Up to 600 Modernized M60A3 with new turret.

Portugal is interested in Baykar drones according to Turkish minister of foreign affairs.

If SSM can convince israelis, those m60a3's may be upgraded with 120mm L44 greatly increasing firepower.

Turkiye (MKE) can do it themselves if they want to. Perhaps we'll see an indigenous 120mm smoothbore gun at IDEF '23.

105->120 switch doesn't really increase firepower of a tank (probably does the opposite for single-piece munition guns). It increases top-end AT capability, which is a completely different thing.

TEI is developing a 305hp aviation piston engine:



It has the same displacement as the PD170/222 engines. It could be based on the PD170 but with a much higher power output. It has almost twice the power of the PD155.

Seems the statement "engine with higher HP output(likely300+ HP) are in the works" turns out to be true. Perhaps the statements about various engine cores is also true. Time will tell.

Turkey's first domestically powered 8x8 vehicle is ready for duty:
• Arma II 8x8 vehicle developed by Otokar and integrated with a 720 hp domestic engine was displayed for the first time
• All qualifications of the vehicle are finished, ready for mass production with domestic engine
