Roketsan developed the 105mm MZK Turret with autoloader as part of the modernization of the M60A3 tanks. Reduced the weight of the tank with the MZK Turret.

It is aimed to modernize the M60A3 Main Battle Tanks, which are in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces, within the scope of the "TİYK-M60A3 Program". In this context, Roketsan has developed a very special turret system for the M60A3 tanks.

Improved 105MM MZK Turret; Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) modules consist of driver vision system, auxiliary power pack, fog mortars, laser warning receivers, remote-controlled weapon system and autoloader. The new turret, which has a much higher technology compared to the current 14.5-ton turrets of the M60A3 tanks, weighs 13 tons.

Roketsan had previously used its own ERA and Spacer Modular Add-on armor solutions during the modernization of Leopard 2A4 and M60T Tanks. With the experience gained from these modernization projects, Roketsan presents a much more advanced solution for the M60A3 tanks.

M60A3-Tank

According to the information obtained from SavunmaSanayiST.com; It is known that there are more than 600 M60A3 Main Battle Tanks in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory. Within the scope of the TİYK-M60A3 Program, it is aimed to modernize these tanks and provide them with similar capabilities to the M60TM.

I wonder if they are going to replace the powerpack too. There were talks with Britain for it. Maybe a subsidiary of L3Harris will provide it??

I have a feeling that IDEF '23 is going to surprise us all. IMO the highlight will be a design reveal or even mock-up of the engine that is under development for the TF-X by either TRMotor and/or TEI, but most likely TRMotor.

And a lot, I mean a lot of new things are going to be unveiled. Missiles, munitions, propulsion systems, AFV's, APC's, ships, subs, aircrafts etc. Can't wait for it.

Found at the PDF:

I've been wondering what TFX looks like for a long time. Some of them produced images by computer-processing photos rationed by the SSB.

I chose the classical way. I took the pen. I reviewed the limited number of photos published by the SSB. I tried to make a 3D drawing of TFX, taking into account the joint surfaces on the fuselage. It was an amateurish drawing. The result looks like the following.

IMO the whole '10 Billion british arms package' is basically a small tug of war between the MoD and SSB. The ministry wants new fighters, ships and is seeking helicopters for their new LHD, while I believe SSB is basically calling for patience and letting indigenous initiatives take the lead albeit with delay.

IMO the President is going to allow a compromise by allowing the MoD to buy the platforms most needed today and that'll be the Typhoon+Meteor combo I think. The rest can somewhat wait.

This vid released today by the head of SSB says it:

"We trust the thinking and producing minds of our country, and we are stepping into our future together, following the strengthening of the defense industry. Everything in our defense industry is indigenous in place!"

Aselsan's Akkor active protection system (APS) will be fielded on Turkey's Altay main battle tank (MBT) by the end of 2023, Janes learnt at Defence iQ's International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) 2023 conference being held in London from 23 to 26 January. Onur Töreci, solution manager for Aselsan's APS and surveillance radars, told Janes that final trials are now under way, and the system will be fitted to all Altay tanks when they enter service.

While Aselsan is confident Akkor will provide protection against top-attack munitions and it has achieved a success rate of over 95% in tests, the company is also looking at how the system can be adapted to provide defence against unmanned aerial vehicles.
