According to the CEO of TAI, 14 TF-X prototypes will be built by 2028 with 2 of them fitted with the indigenous engine and the rest with F110's. According ti him, TRMotor has been working on the engine for 4 years and they have a design ready.

Very ambitious timeline. Also 6 T129's are going to be exported to Nigeria.

Interesting, a Turk will become CEO of Rolls-Royce in january 2023:

I wonder what consequences this will have for a possible participation of RR in the development of the indigenous turbofan engine. Will he be able to convince SSB to choose RR and Kale to develop the engine??

Putin 'proposed to have a Turkish drone factory built in Russia'

, it emerged on Tuesday.
According to CNN Turk, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told colleagues at a top party meeting on Monday that Putin had approached him during a recent meeting in Tehran to suggest a deal with Turkish firm Baykar to produce its attack drones, which have proved effective against Russian forces in Ukraine.
“Putin told me that he wants to work with Baykar,” Erdogan reportedly said. “He proposed to establish a factory in Russia as [Bayakr] has done in the UAE.”
A Baykar spokesperson denied that the company had established a factory in the UAE. The spokesperson declined to comment on the Russian proposal.
However, a source with knowledge of the issue said Baykar was indeed in the process of establishing a production line in the UAE.
Baykar’s Bayraktar TB2 drones had a proven track record of success against several adversaries in conflicts in Libya, Syria, and Nagorno-Karabakh. But they had not been used against an army with sophisticated electronic warfare capabilities and state-of-the-art air defence systems until the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
So far they have proved extremely effective in combating Russian troops deployed deep inside Ukrainian territory.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov revealed last month that Ukraine has received 50 armed drones from Turkish arms company Baykar since Russia's 24 February invasion.

ANKARA — Turkey’s defense and aerospace exports in the first half of 2022 reached a record high of almost $2 billion, up 48 percent from the same period in 2021, official statistics revealed on July 19.

According to the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), Turkish exports may come close to or exceed the $4 billion mark by the end of 2022, an annual all-time high.

“The rise in exports, which came after two years of decline during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, should be attributed primarily to aerospace, and home-made drones in particular,” said Ozgur Eksi, an Ankara-based defense analyst. “These numbers tell us that the Turkish industry’s dependence on local sales is diminishing and exports are helping Turkish companies to become self-sufficient.”

Turkey has supplied 96 drones to international clients, including Poland, the first European buyer of the famed TB-2, developed by Baykar Makina. Defense industry officials say potential buyers of Turkish-made drones include the United Kingdom, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Saudi Arabia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovakia, Uruguay, and Albania.

According to SaSaD, an umbrella organization for Turkey’s defense and aerospace manufacturers, total business in 2021 reached $10.1 billion. Exports totaled to $3.2 billion, exceeding imports, at $2.6 billion, by 23 percent. Turkish companies won new orders worth $8.5 billion in the same year. The industry employs 75,000 people and spends $1.6 billion annually on research and development.

TAI establishes the world's fifth largest radar cross-sectional area test facility

Turkish Aviation and Space Industry is making another big investment to carry out radar cross-sectional area tests needed for other unique platforms developed, especially for the National Combat Aircraft. With its capacity and capability, Turkey's largest and the world's 5th largest radar cross-sectional area test facility is expected to start its operations in the second quarter of 2024.
The Radar Cross Section Test Facility, designed to detect the visibility and size of the National Combat Aircraft on radar, will be one of the most modern facilities in this field in the world with its state-of-the-art infrastructure. The facility, which will contribute to the design studies of the platform, will also determine the amount of reflection of radar signals, which are electromagnetic waves. Thus, as a result of the tests carried out, the low visibility feature of the National Combat Aircraft on the radar will be verified.
Expressing his views for Turkey's largest radar cross-sectional area test facility in terms of platform size and measurement accuracy it supports, Turkish Aerospace Industries General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil said, “We continue to make big investments in aviation that will save our country from foreign dependency. In this context, the radar cross-sectional area, which we will start to build in the near future, will be one of the most advanced facilities in the world with its technology. Thus, we will carry out another important test for our National Combat Aircraft platform in our country with national resources. We will continue to contribute to the independent aviation ecosystem of our country.”

A well known figure in the Turkish defence sphere (Mete Yarar) just released a vid:

Important points according to @Canardzz from secretprojectsforum

So Mete Yarar apparently visited TAI, spoke of the TF-X. Here are some of the things he said...

"TF-X's assembly has begun. They've already finished the construction of its large hangar. They've also begun constructing the aircraft's mass production facilities."
"Concerning the aircraft, the first thing that I will say is that it's massive. Comparing it to the F-16 won't be wise. The aircraft has its sections, and some of those sections are as big as the wing of an F-16. It's that big."

He also talks about Hurjet, Hurkus, Gokbey and the F-16 Ozgur (which is a more secretive program than the TF-X according to him).

And also the Hürjet will be mated with its engine at the end of this month.

Perhaps Turkish speaking members can collect more info from his vid. @BoraTas

@dBSPL from PDF has also a good summary:

  • TAI's test capabilities and test facilities as an aircraft production center are moving towards a unique point in the world. Design, structural, production, test centers are combined under one complex. (He cites some anecdotes about how delegations from Boeing and Airbus were impressed by these testing capabilities. There are examples of TAI's own methodology and machines it has developed.)
  • The number of employees at TAI's Ankara facilities has exceeded 13,000. TAI facilities are now like a living city.
  • There is great secrecy in the ÖZGÜR project. TAI's most closed box. But from what has been announced, the F-16 Block-70 level is extremely possible locally.
  • At the end of 2022, Aselsan begins to deliver GaN-based AESA radars for Hurjet, Ozgur project and Akıncı to manufacturers for testing purposes.
  • Gökbey is on the mass production line. This year, deliveries to the Gendarmerie General Command begin.
  • On the subject of Hürkuş; Planes to go to Niger and Chad are ready, pilot training continues.
  • Hurjet, the aircraft to be used for static tests(iron bird) has been completed, and the othe prototype's all blocks that will make the first flight at 18 march has been completed.
  • MMU final assembly hangar completed. The construction of the facility where mass production will be made is about to be completed.
  • MMU P1 production activities are in the process. Assembly activities have begun. The project chief engineer saying that the team is very confident that the jet will be rollout of the hangar by starting its engines in March 2023.
