Total weight of tariffs is actually around 43% if you include preexisting tariffs from prior years.
Needs a citation for the tax amount on your own people.
43% tariff is a win for America.
With that kind of spinning, what number would be a loss? Also, citation for the 43%?
2-3 weeks ago, they said there would be 7 weeks before the shelves went empty and it's already too late to prevent that because there is a gap on the oceans between when inventory runs out and when the next ships arrive.
No substantial price increases for consumers
That's not what your companies say. They say expect price increases for what they had to deal with and in the US, once prices go up, they don't come back down because companies now know they can charge that much more.
since Chinese suppliers will eat a portion of the tariffs.
By the logic of saying something over and over again makes it true.
Revenue for the Treasury -$16B from April.
From your own citizens. I've seen MAGA retards brag about this on Facebook thinking China sent XX billion dollars to the US treasury but I thought you were a little smarter than them cus you're on here. My mistake.
To see America suffer China should’ve stuck with no deal.
America's already suffering, at home and on the international stage.
China has gotten so far and so much faster than the US because it is not a country that likes to force others' hand. It is actually Chinese philosophy to leave room to maneuver and slowly whittle the opponent down while gaining advantages until the opponent realizes it's no longer possible to win and slinks off rather than greedily going for the kill. We have developed and outgrown everyone because we always put our own interests first.
This is another oppertunity for China; we will continue to outgrow the US and put you in a more dire situation for the next confrontation.
Don't have to remember, look forward to them.
Some U.S. OEMs like Topo Athletics have already reported that their Chinese suppliers will eat some of the tariffs.
WTF is Topo Athletics? LOL Cite what they said. Big brands like Walmart have already stopped asking for any offshoring of Chinese manufacturing or drops in prices.
So why haven’t Chinese suppliers jacked up their prices yet?
Maintaining the prices means that Americans eat your own tariffs.
Why are some eating the tariffs.
Cus you're still free to dream.
Technically true. But in reality, Chinese manufactures often lower their asking price because they want to maintain the sales relationship with foreign OEMs.
So Chinese suppliers bear a portion of the cost of tariffs indirectly by taking a hit on revenue.
Citation for Chinese manufacturers lowering prices? Are they isolated? Have some increased their prices?
