Based on the testimony of someone who was classmates with Miller in high school he was just as much of a jerk back in high school. Only difference is that he has a lot more resources at his disposal.

It's very simple. All the Latinos or other non-white Trump supporters think that when Trump refers to "bad brown people" he doesn't mean them. Except of course he does, but they won't believe it until it impacts them, like for example if their wife or husband ends up being deported. Even then they might try to rationalize it as the system making a "mistake" deporting a "good" one, rather than working exactly as Trump intended.
