"Just a reminder of where things stand. In the grand scheme, Ukraine still has all the momentum, especially with new Western weapons arriving.

Soledar is a TINY town. You could drive through it in 10 minutes"

I mean I suppose it's a temporary win for Russians if you call taking a small town after almost a year of fighting 100km's from Russian border and tens of thousands Russians dead in this battle alone... a win?

This will likely be their last "battle victory" for the foreseeable future and I really do wonder what the reaction is going to be when Ukraine takes it back with its new armored vehicles and weapon systems this spring.

The point of Soledar wasn't it's surface area or that Russians now have lots of salt. Instead it's three folds:

1. Russians are claiming elements of 14 different Ukrainian brigades have been rotated in and out of the area during this fight - out because after some time in this city they are rendered combat ineffective. All this against just mostly Wagner PMC. The combat around Soledar and Bakhmut have sucked in so much oxygen that all offensive operations (other than Svatove-Kreminna) by AFU have come to a halt and the formations assembled in Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv had to be dissembled and sent into the battle piecemeal to be grinded down.

We don't have a counterclaim from the Ukrainian side since that's top secret for them.

2. Soledar is one of the most fortified area among the Donbas fortress area built after 2008. Wagner have figured out a way to take such a fortress which means they proved the rest of the fortress area could also be taken.

3. Wagner shouldering the brunt of the fighting meant Russian army have had time to rebuild their strength. All signs are pointing to them having regained enough strength now to resume offensive operations.

It's evident that Russia no longer views land gains as a goal as of present, but rather grind down the Ukrainians and NATO using superior firepower. I personally don't think the war so far is exactly a good display of Russian military's performance in a high-tech environment, in fact quite the opposite. But, if Ukrainians and NATO still think like you even after swallowing all their losses in the last couple of months, then maybe the Russian strategy was the correct one afterall.

You surely never learn 2 major lessons :

1.Stop feeling yourself too much and make predictions out of a whim
2.Given that there is already news on How Ukrainian doesnt even know the number of their own deaths.. how we can expect they provide accurate or even believeable number on Russian deaths ?

That's just a bunch of cope. Also still amusing trying to use Tendar as a source for anything when a few days ago he launched into an incredibly cringe tirade of how he is one of the greatest snipers ever, worthy of the most virgin of Call of Duty players.

An unusual entry on the Intel Slava blog:

"Russian fighters in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine penetrate the headquarters and destroy Ukrainian officers

In one of the new messages, they write that PMC "Wagner" in Ukrainian pixel camouflage with yellow and green armbands penetrated the positions of the 17th tank brigade through holes in the defense and reached the battalion's command post, where they shot officers and soldiers with pistols with silencers."

Entry on @wargonzo. Original entry has a video described below which I viewed but cannot link due to Telegram policies.

project , in which the "musicians" are next to the Church of the Transfiguration at the intersection of st. Dachnaya and Preobrazhenskaya in the north-east of the center of Soledar.

As we can see, there are no typical sounds for “fights near the center of the city” in the video. Not even the distant sounds of battle and shell explosions can be heard.

The city is under the control of PMC Wagner."

There are no sounds of fighting in the video but you can hear the chilly winds.
