Manned AAA? Wounder if they'll upgrade with remote controlled guns sometime in the future.
Hate to be in the position of the gunner with all that sea spray hitting right on the face. Question if including these what maybe four new craft with a total of 9 built, can we say PLAN is happy with it and consider a successful design even though we have not seen one carring a military loaf and the Chinese haven't gone to the moon yet.

We have seen it carrying one single Type 99 tank a while ago
There are picture too with 2 APC and Jeep if I am not wrong What it mean is they finally debug QD/QC70 Gas Turbine and now in volume production. Start reliability test in 2010
Spec type 726 Not sure where it come from
Specification:
  • Length: 30 meter
  • Beam: 16 meter
  • Displacement: 150 - 160 tons
  • Speed: > 60 kts, depending on cargo loads (80 kts reached in trials when unloaded)
  • Cargo capacity: 50 ton normal, 60 ton (max overload)
  • Armament: gun mounts for machine guns & grenade launchers

Type 726 can carry a load

Question has always been can it carry a load and enter and exit the well deck of Type 071 LPD ??

Or some design flaw

Or some design flaw

Why it shouldn't it after all type 071 was designed to carry LCAC with load
This picture below should prove that the ramp on both end of LCAC can be lowered, allowing tank to pass thru series of LCAC, while inside the well deck of 071. Not very efficient

From Henri K You see how wide the deck is . Easily fit 2 APC in a row. Hey thanks Kienchin. Apparently they have problem with the original Ukrainian engine and vibration . So they have to wait until QC70 mature. That is why it take so long until mass production

China launches mass production of its new LCAC Type 726A

The Chinese navy is doing revive mass production of the equivalent of US LCAC, the 726A type , Jiangnan Changxing shipyard in Shanghai, if one believes the satellite images dated December 9, 2016.

Indeed, apart from the presence of two destroyers Type 055 and six destroyers 052D type including two outside the artificial basin of the production line 4, you can see also two type 726A in the water and two another floor ( yellow frame ).

The first four of the class type 726 , with a priori Ukrainian gas turbines UGT-ДМ71 6000 (*), were produced at the same shipyard there are now six.

These landing craft air cushion 150 tons, which are designed to enter the floor of the amphibious ship Type 071 Chinese navy, have encountered a number of technical problems that have temporarily stop production, forcing four Type 071 shifting more than 20,000 tons to limit their projection capabilities to only amphibious IFVs and helicopters, not tanks.

The most widespread rumors spoke of the concern to replace Ukrainian turbines with native ones, and also a problem of the steering system. But according to a source working at the shipyard in question, the problems were rather the low-frequency vibration and also the loud noise.

The improved model and equipped with a Chinese propulsion, with the gas turbine QC-70 developed from the aviation engine WS-10 , seems to be called the Type 726A now.

Each Type 726 / Type 726A can carry up to 60 tonnes of payloads, the mass of a Chinese combat tank such as ZTZ-96A or ZTZ-99A. The distance is estimated at 320 km, sufficient to cross the Taiwan Strait at a speed up to 80 kn, one way, if the sea situation is unknown.

In terms of development, it is interesting to note that the design of the Type 726 / Type 726A is not entirely realized by the players in the naval sector, but also by those of the Chinese aeronautics group AVIC.

These include, for example, that the assembly of the propeller shroud is made by the CAC (Chengdu Aircraft Corporation), a subsidiary of AVIC today produces fighter J-10B and J-20 .

The use of Dassault Systèmes DELMIA software in the assembly of the Type 726A propeller fairing (Source: AVIC)

And it is all the more surprising to note the presence of a little French touch in this Chinese LCAC - indeed, the CAC, assisted by the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, uses factory software Dassault Systemes, DELMIA, to plan and simulate a 726A-related construction part.

To increase productivity and anticipate possible problems in the assembly of the fairing - which measures 4.7 meters in diameter and 1.9 meters in height, and weighing 1.3 tonnes in total - the Chinese engineers use the module DPE (DELMIA Process Engineer) for scheduling and scheduling operations, as well as DPM Assembly and Human modules, as a 3D interface, to simulate the editing sequences and ergonomics of the workstation.

The same software suite is used today in the assembly and installation of A350 aircraft.

It will be interesting to know how these engineering and industrial data are managed, secured and shared in a cross-sectoral Supply Chain environment between AVIC Group of the aeronautics sector and the CSSC group of the naval sector.

While waiting for the new Type 726A to be tested and delivered to the Chinese Navy, a recent video broadcast by local television shows that a new copy 3332 entered service and participated in an amphibious landing exercise, Now only three Type 726 - registered 3319, 3320 and 3321 - have been seen.

In terms of the quantity of vessels planned, no official figures have been released today, but there are now at least four Type 726 in service and four Type 726A under construction.Knowing that each amphibious landing vessel Type 071 can take two in its raft, and that the Chinese navy could eventually up to six Type 071, the final number of these Chinese boats on air cushion could still increase
