Senator Marsha Blackburn put out a hit on him...

Not sure how this guy dying affects the project. Can anyone clarify? The guy would be just a producer meaning securing the money. Does this guy make movies? All I see is he's a video game guy. The only other contribution would be finding the right people to work on the project. If he's about video games, I don't see how he's going to contribute other than money and secure access to China. If that's it, it's easy to find another money guy. If it's going to be an adaption and changed for white actors taking place in the US as some have speculated, why would they need this guy except for the money?

With the Mandalorian, Disney has started to redeem itself.
Indeed. I have to wonder if it's a fluke (directors, producers and writers with the right attitude) or someone at Disney realised that having pretentious idiots who wanted to make "art" direct and write was a terrible idea, so they needed people working on The Mandalorian that really cared about Star Wars. When you care about something, you put its needs above your own ego.

Looks like something similar (to Episode 8) happened with Wonder Woman 1984. The director also wrote the story and came up with something terrible that the cast couldn't make up for.

Although Jon Favreau has done a lot of work on seasons 1 and 2, there were also other people directing and writing to keep things fresh.

Whatever the reason for the show's success, I hope it continues with season 3 and beyond.

We'll know once the Book of Boba Fett comes out. That said I think the thing Disney needs to do with the Star Wars IP right now is to give it a break. Very hard to recover after the fiasco with Rise of the Skywalkers.

Two words... alternative universe. It never happened. Throw it into the trash heap called JJ Abrams' mind.
Or just ignore it outright. There's loads of story telling opportunities that don't need to be about the main series characters. Frankly I'd like them to get away from that entire era for a while.

They can't really ignore it because now fans are talking about did Kylo Ren kill Baby Yoda. So if they did decide to go the alternate universe route they would have to announce it. Frankly I hope they do but it probably won't happen until some time has passed.

actually they can get around killing Grogu fairly easily. The timeline is the answer.

  • 19BBY Order 66 Grogu is captured
  • 0ABY Battle of Yavin IV A New Hope/ Rogue One.
  • 4 ABY Return of the Jedi. Luke ends his training. starts training Leia.
  • 5 ABY Battle of Jakku, Ben Solo is born
  • 9 ABY The Mandolorian with Grogu in Luke’s hands as student #2
  • 15 ABY 10 year old Ben Solo joins Luke’s School. Rey is born.
  • 28 ABY 23 year old Ben turns on Luke
Ezra Bridger had more formal training to be a Jedi in his 5 years than Luke whom had maybe a couple months training max. Leia less than a year and Rey Vulcan mind melded half of her training from Ben. Grogu has ~5 years as the only known student of Luke, before Ben arrives. ~18 before the temple is destroyed. Since he already had almost two decades of training in the old temple before order 66. It should be fairly quick a couple years and back to Mando.

StarWars under Disney is a unified canon so tossing out movies and production is hard. They might for perhaps the older non cgi clone wars episode and clearly the Holliday special & Ewoks adventures are decanonized. But the Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and Rise of a Skywalker have remained canonical unless and until some other production. Star Wars Resistance was in active production until January 2020, The Mandolorian was launched that year in concert aid they chose to override the Later movies canon with The Mandolorian, why keep production going or allow release? Additionally more materials have been launched in line with the last three movies. The Rise of Kylo REN published may 2020.Even the often berated Rian Johnson hanother movie still in his contract. Sorry mace they still stand.

I think they need to move away from the Skywalkers. They've made enough mess around the galaxy... One of them is a new hope! Wait a minute! Someone else in their family will have to destroy the galaxy before the other one becomes the hope... Then someone else destroys the galaxy again. then someone else becomes another hope for the galaxy. Enough already... Someone needs to tell them to stop messing with the galaxy!

I've mentioned this before, but the Old Republic storyline is so much more interesting. I think they are planning a new trilogy based on the Old Republic storyline. Let's hope they are as intriguing as the trailers to the games... These trailers have become some of the most enjoyable clips that I've watched.

That’s part of the side productions we have seen with animated like Rebels now live action on both streaming and theatrical like The Mandolorian, Solo and Rogue one.
The Mandolorian didn’t involve Luke until the last half of the last episode Rebels and Rogue one in cameo as well.
Among the confirmed production for Disney Starwars are Rogue squadron, and something based on the Old republic timeline. However the old EU is not canonical to Disney and the new canon yet the new canon has barrowed from the old with references to Darth Revin, Admiral Thrawn even vehicle designs from the old Toy lines have appeared as canonical.
It’s also likely Mandolorian will return to see what happens next. With some open ended plots from tears ago outside the
Skywalkers. In Example, Dave Filoni ended Rebels on a cliffhange that could be the basis of a movie, series or an arc in Mandolorian; the Fate of Ezra Bridger. His work on launching the last season of Star Wars the Clone wars this year proves that one day he will end that cliffhanger. In fact the Mandolorian already touched on that when We saw Asoka Tano demand the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Disney really has worked to canonize the Cartoons in a way. Solo with the Darth Maul living and criminal empire cameo, Asoka and Thrawn in The Mandolorian, Bo Katan Kruyze with the Dark saber in the Mandolorian, Rogue one with Saw Gerrera. These were all Clone wars and Rebels canon treated as solid canon brought to live action productions.
